I just stick mine through the wash.
6 hour detailing sessions are reserved for my own vehicles.
Beefys motor is in beautiful condition, but there’s half a days work there.

About 3 hours every week .
First time was the worst as it absloutly drank the polish, after that it was a lot easier to keep on top of .
Strange thing is my car is a heap - its 2 miles from the yard to my house and its not used for anything else so I hardly ever wash it probably 3-4 times a year .
Agreed.
Keeping on top of it,is the key.
Still spent most of yesterday cleaning my van, though
At a lot of places, you can get a 3 pack of Chrome, for around £10-£15. If you buy them individually, they work out a little bit more.
I have the Chrome pink for my dash on my 69 plate XFSSC, and it’s good.
Ken.

Maybe, just maybe the op takes pride in his vehicle and appearance, as he says £20 isn’t going to break the bank and he might enjoy valeting.( some do, just look at the detailing world forum) Unlike some of you sofa warriors, who wouldn’t do f*** all for your boss because you’re owed a living by him(her).5 to 10 mins a day whilst you’re waiting to get tipped wouldn’t hurt. You knuckle draggers are all the same, when a new lorry comes along he will be given it because he cares, and you lot will whinge like crazy because you have been there longer and still in your old heap. From a director who has 9 trucks, and still drives. Can see both views, but would employ him over the rest of you.( for your info my drivers vehicles are spotless and cleaning products are provided along with a full truck wash once a week).
Yeh but it ain’t necessarilly an either/or situation though is it.
As I said I personally keep my cab interior spotless,.I also keep the outside clean,.washed at least 2x a week, all done in work time, not when I’m sat parked up on daily rest …so that is that part cleared up.
It doesn’t make you a …‘knuckle dragger/sofa warrior/or somebody who thinks he’s owed a living’', just because he aint some neurotic serial polisher and/or somebody who spends a proportion of his earnings on another person’s property.
Whether it’s 20, 200 or 2 quid, the firm should supply stuff to up the profile of their own vehicles… and if drivers are stupid enough to spend money on a firm’s truck, the boss will sit back and let them., justifying it by saying ''Ah well he takes pride in his trucks appearance, I needn’t bother my arse paying for it…as this o/p’s boss, who is sitting back whilst his driver is taking an ex shunter heap of ■■■■ out of the yard.
I own a Navara pick up, with chrome bars, a light bar, and other extras, I have bought, I also have a box of polishes for it, bought by myself…because it’s MY OWN vehicle.
Granted the job is full of the type of dirty ■■■■■ that you speak of.
As for those who ‘‘wouldn’t do f.all for their boss’’, maybe there’s a good reason for that as to how their boss treats and looks upon them.
You may be the world’s best (or worst) boss, I don’t know, but you must have picked up on the simple fact that you only reap what you sow from drivers, I learned that when I was actually ‘‘a boss’’ myself.
My drivers are extremely well looked after and we all get on extremely well, i never said my guys pay for the stuff , i do. As for giving someone a shunter, i don’t have one,and if i did, the new driver would be bought a decent vehicle. but i agree if i had a minging truck( which would never get in that state in the first place) and i had to use it,no driver would be expected to clean it before he/she takes it on.

Looks like we’re both singing from the same sheet then mate after all.
When I had drivers working for me we all got on well, they would come around to the house regularly. and we’d have a pint together at weekends.
That and the fact that I treated them as grown ups , resulted in loyalty and a good work ethic,…and I paid for all stuff to keep my trucks clean.
I’ve worked for bosses similar to you, and I have reciprocated, and yeh maybe a couple of quid spent here and there would not go amiss or break the bank, but at the moment where I am now,.every ■■■■ thing goes on exes.

Well its been more than just a shunter to be fair it has over 368,000Km on it has been many drivers unit, just when it was a shunter it obviously wasnt kept that clean. For the sake of £20 I can continue to keep the cab clean when I’m sat waiting for a load. Why are you willing to even take it out of the yard?..and are you tramping/sleeping in it?
If they won’t pay to valet it, you should make it clear you ain’t willing to go out with it in the state that it is, but you’ll compromise by coming in over the weekend (paid) and you’ll supply the materials and put it on your next week’s expenses.
I really do not think that is an unfair request.
No I’m a day driver and its not like its disgustingly bad I just wanted to keep it clean.

Or read a book? Don’t confuse boredom with justifying cleaning somebody else’s equipment
If you get bored easily and don’t mind spending £20, get yourself round Beaver hills and wash/hoover/detail the Beavermobile for me.
Note to all drivers; The illustrious Beaver is always available to give top drawer advice to those with weak spines and/or miniscule brains. Please contact the mods for this service as The mighty Beaver has PM’s disabled due to fan mail.
I spend all day in this vehicle, its my responsibility to keep it clean and I’m not washing hoovering and detailing the unit, just keeping the cab clean. I bought 3 chrome sprays for cleaning and fitted an air duster, hardly weak spined ya cheeky sausage.

There’s a guy on here watching my every move, scrolling through my previous posts, and shouting hypocrite at me whenever he can
So I better jump in fast here.I buy my own cleaning stuff for cab interior because it’s my own living space, and no bugger else is going to buy it…note; there are ways and means of re.imbursenent.
However whenever I’ve started a new job on a used motor, and if the firm hasn’t valeted it, (the previous 2 had, but the present one had not) I made them aware of my intentions and just done it myself (with pay) and put whatever I needed on exs,.after they agreed to it.
Cheers.
You’ve literally just contradicted yourself lol
lolipop:
Simple solution, tell the Boss get it valeted first before I take it on or it stays in the yard. After he / she has had it done tell him /her that any further cleaning stuff you will produce till receipts for payment. Poundshop is as good as any for polish etc.
Lol yeah 6 weeks into a new job and start making demands like that? Surely its the drivers responsibility to keep it clean which previous drivers had done but not all.

Finally someone that understands me, I’m not going to polish it and wax it etc its a work horse I just want the interior to be a bit cleaner (hence buying some chrome products and an air duster) and there is a industrial machine washer on site which I use as often as I can but I’m a busy boy so its usually once a week.

They are the 3 I got and its cost £16
White vinegar and water will do your windows and that costs pennies
It’s great for mirrors too
