Was very breezy down in Cornwall last night and today, cab was taking the brunt of it, thought it was gonna blow off lol, lucky for me my load of blocks kept me firmly on the road.
Had a return load to Teignmouth and then Exmouth on the seafront, the road was completely covered in sand, was like driving on the beach itself
im not trying to sound like a hero but i just go and get on with it. snow, ice, wind or rain dont stop me i just go out and do my best with the situation. some days are worse than others but ive never had to stop for any reason.
I’ve seen quite a few like that, it must be something to do with empty trailers curtain sides acting like sails and making it easier to blow them over. If the curtains are tied back, the wind will blow through making it more stable.

this might sound stupid but when i was driving back from Chester my car was being chucked about like a good en.
i did see a lorry with its curtains tied back, is that a good idea?
tieing the curtains back can weaken the structural strength of the trailer especially the roof, the only safe thing to do if you’re getting worried is either slow down or stop till conditions improve

That is the best advice, slow down, as mentioned you are dead a bloody long time, the RDC will still be there when you arrive, it may be just missing the roof, just like the trailer if you run with the curtains tied back
The wind seems to have been really bad all this month, i hate driving in it. I dont mind any other weather. I have seen trailers with the curtains tied back recently but when i was coming back from Carlisle about this time last year (i think), i went past an artic with his curtains tied back and his trailer was still getting pushed into the hard shoulder.
As a bit of a side note, has anyone noticed their ad-blue consumption increase? My CF seems to be drinking the stuff for fun!
The Highway Man:
It’s howling a gale through ■■■■■■■■ please take it easy travelling through the county, I wouldn’t like to meet you lovely boys and girls in a professional manner.
Ran down from near Edinburgh on Wednesday evening with an empty bulk-blower trailer, parked up at the feed mill at Langwathby . next to an open field with wind blowing straight of the Pennines…rocked me to sleep just lika mamma used to.

Well when driving in strong winds the truck has to work harder to maintain speed. The more fuel used, the more Ad Blue used.
