Basically, direct links to specific posts that are relevant to the thread they are linked in are fine, but generic forums links aren’t.
Nobody has of yet said why 
there not allowed just that they are,Ok have rules but explain them to the member,just saying it’s not allowed is not an explaination of the rules…

I would think that it is to do with direct advertising.
IMO you could put in a link to the pepsi site which goes straight to an artical on a lorry driver who has a pepsi fetish as that is a specific artical but to post the link for the front page of that site would be deemed direct advertising for pepsi.
I’m sure site admin will tell me if I got that wrong…

If you had a bakery shop would you stick loads of adverts in the window for the other bakery shops in the area? 
Could trucknet be accused of breaking there own rules then by advertising other drivers websites by being a member of the “The Hauliers Web Ring” which has direct links to other truck drivers websites including forums,which is the main reason why direct links are not allowed…

No Odd they can do what they want when they want, break the rules, ammend them in fact ANYTHING ANYTIME.
It makes you feel part of it knowing they can do what they want but tell you you cant do the same thing.
