That’s just it they haven’t got people banging in the 13s and 15s because they can’t keep drivers…
OK, but in another post you say you’ve just done your first sub-12 hour day for three weeks? It suggested to me that you’ve been banging the maximum hours out on a regular basis. On that note, eff that for a game. Working those kind of hours is neither natural nor good for you which is why the vast majority of people come nowhere near them through the course of their working lives.
Your not getting my point, they are short 20 drivers, the new drivers jack it in after a week, the people who are there and haven’t jacked it in are being pushed to the max recently, I was only asking how does this circle end? The long days are because were short on drivers, were short on drivers because of the long days.
Well park up after 12 hrs then they’ll soon get the message that’s what we do sometimes.
Ha ha, doubt it would go down well, what would be good is if we all clubbed together and revoked the night workers exemption Usual start time is between 0000 and 0200

That’s what we did a few years ago now it’s a max 12 hr shift at night.

As poster said above, your short of drivers because when someone takes the time too ring up for a application form they can’t be assed to send you one, think its 18 months and it still hasn’t arrived.
I also know someone who took the time to drive 50 miles too see your depot about a job, only too be told he couldn’t as he didn’t have a full dcpc( think he was a year short).
Mate works there, says he does 60 + hrs for 50 hrs pay ,why would the company want to change this, sounds idea from company perspective .
Would ring him too get latest sp but he’s never at home
We get a flat rate 7 days a week no matter how many hours we put in. To be fair though, it is a good rate for weekdays at £11 per hour and i rarely do less than 50 hours over 5 days and that is after breaks are deducted (both breaks on a 10 hour drive too)

I’ll remind you of this post when in x years from now it becomes impossible to obtain any work paying an overtime rate. And £11/hr flat rate for weekdays as ltd co is dire for someone doing 50hrs+. You’re doing yourself out of at least £65/week based on a standard time 1.5 after 8hrs mechanic.
I shall rephrase that. Its a comparatively good rate looking at what other contracts pay. Pollocks only pays £8 per hour according to one of hour lads who did a couple of days there. He didn’t know the rate before doing the shifts. NDL pays £8 per hour 7 days a week (good old de poel ) which is why they cant get drivers on Sundays.
i am looking forward to September to see what happens to these companies who pay as little as possible and therefore cant get drivers now
I keep seeing the name ‘De Poel’ come up when the agencies are mentioned, no doubt it will be something legal but morally wrong,so anyone care to ‘enlighten’ me
