B&R Doherty; Didn’t they used to have Volvo FHs (early ones) on a delivery contract with JCB?

Saratoga:

Nick, I’ve got the licence and spent about 3 months on HIAB last year but lost patience with the whole Jewsons/City Transport/Manpower setup. Especially as at the time the wagon I drove a fair few times had to have both legs fully out to use the boom plus It liked to often time out and lock up with a load on.

Had the boom announce it was overloaded having moved it into position to drop 1/2t pallet over the side where the arms are in the right order of angle. Although what capped it was when the truck was on the red, went to fill up then found the fuel card didn’t work and the company wanted me to use my own bank card to pay for the Ā£300 of diesel that had just gone in the truck and not using a company credit card to pay at the garage.

Did everything by the book for loading unloading but still got skewered in the head by the forkie when strapping a load when he helpfully shoved a pole under a load so I could get the strap through, the one I’d just got over. Got a nice 2" square imprinted on my forehead for that, plus being told that I had to do 56 everywhere to get the drops done and they (the company) had exemption from the speed limits as it was for local deliveries. Needless to say, I didn’t believe him.

Don’t mind taking photos of the trucks, idle or in use but there you go.

I think so mate, B&R Doherty only run a Volvo fleet every time I’ve seen them about

Buildbase are not part of St Gobain (Jewsons) or Travis (who also own Wickes) but are the merchant side of southern Irish company, Grafton Merchanting.
I have worked for Buildbase for the last four years driving the offending article below, Mon to Fri with a sat morning every other week and home every night . Never ever wanted to drive for a builders merchant, but having had 36 years on artics and away most of the time, it was the first job offered to me after regaining my HGV following a heart attack and subsequent triple bypass!

I’m getting to think that this temporary job is becoming a tad more permanent!.. Recession permitting;)
