Oh, yes they can! All it proves is that an envelope was delivered - it doesn’t say what (if anything) was in it. I daresay thousands of folk have tried this dodge with cheques over the years to delay payments etc. For belt & braces you should get A N Other to witness you putting the card in the envelope, sealing it and handing it to the postperson.

Probably best to put it in the envelope at the post office then at least it’s on camera !
My cards are all kept in my wallet & always have been & ive never had any issues , only card I had break was the diesel card and that was my fault as I left keys in ignition & hit the card holder ( card ) with my knee smashing it whilst getting into lorry

Dont use the damaged card, and do print outs at the start and end of your shift for you and your employer, and carry them with you. Once your new card arrives, away you go.
