hiya,
retrobate, i’m shocked, norman you just said we are the salt of the earth make your mind up me old mate, and get your finger out and lets see that book in print
thanks harry long retired.
Retrobate Norm ? , I should Koko , I do hope your not saving those precious 60 pages on your Computor , I was doing a thing on 2ww Nava Destroyers using my Dads diarys , yep computor went down and I had
nt backed up , so Im sticking to what I know the good o Red and Rust . By the way Harry I was
nt so perfect on BRS or any Haulier whilst still doing my dodgies , until I got caught by the depot Manager and he let me off , didnt stop the dodgies though I just made sure I did
nt get caught again .
Due you remember BRS had a the regimental Ops , Op
s 11 was log sheets , op`s 12 was it a Lorry service , thats an interesting topic .
regards Frenchy
Frenchy, you are alittle devil, not a angel like me?. My book is backed up by disc, also paper, but being a Virgo, do you think I should engrave it in stone, to make sure. I might retract my comments, about Harry, being a retrobated, but you seem to be as straight as a corkscrew, with your little perks ha ha ha. Sandman Norman
hiya,
hello frenchy can really only remember the old OPs 6 like a licence to print money get a sub in any depot with it supposed to be a nght out payment but it was nearly always a donation to the poor childrens fathers beer money association OK norm that makes me as bent as a nine bob note you can call me a retrobate I deserve it and had my share of dodgies too, happy days.
thanks harry long retired.
Harry, I knew I would get the truth out of you, I always left my motor where it was stated to be, I did not stay with the motor all the time, but by lorry rides, bus, train, ferry, or car & taxi, to get home, specially when weekended. I even came home one friday, from Le Havre & back by sunday night. Sandman Norman
hiya,
norm where the log book said was where the motor was parked why do you think i spent a mint teaching my wife to drive best pick up/ drop off service worth every penny, one of the best legal dodgies was brs team valley security parking when running whisky only eight miles from where i lived at the time that i worked for brs it doesn’t come more legit than that, so not very bent maybe just a little bit but i can live with that, cheers my old mate.
thanks harry long retired.
Harry if I was the blushing type, my face would go red, but then you would tell me that 99% of lorry drivers did the same, I am in deep shock, I always believed they were true knights of the road, now I find out in the latter years of my life, that they were nothing but a bunch of rogues, woe is me, ha ha ha, if you believe that, you will believe anything. Sandman Norman
Frenchy, where are you, I have not upset you, Not heard from you for a while, you and harry are not young anymore, your the chelsea soldiers of the red & rust brigade Ha Ha Ha. Sandman Norman
hiya,
no problems norm, just haven’t had such an exciting life as you therefore not a lot to talk about, like reading other peoples stuff though, although i suppose i can spout off if the occasion arises, all’s well norm and still on parade,
thanks harry long retired.
Harry, yes I have had a good life, and I always tried to be straight and fair to anyone I knew, and if I get my book finished before we both leave this world, I know you will enjoy it, you must have some idea of what I am like, you will laugh, cry, and say, he made his mark in life. Sandman Norman
hiya,
well norm it’s finally happened after almost 57 years of driving licence ownership, started at age 16 with a licence for a moped now nearly 73 iv’e just been done for speeding 38 mph so it looks like my squeaky clean record is about to become blemished with penalty points wouldn’t mind but i was caught on a road i don’t know very well by a camera of all things, could have been a lawman it would have sweetened the blow a bit at least i could have offered him congratulations for when his mam and dad got married, everybody say ah.
thanks harry long retired.
Boy racers, tut tut Harry!!! LOL
hiya,
I knew it, not one jot of sympathy for an old man and former BRS driver to boot, i’m not playing anymore, this may scar me for life possible points on the licence and job prospects nil,oh woe is me.
thanks harry long retired.
Harry, what bad luck, did you smile, but was your wife driving, have they sent you proof, that it was you speeding, If they have no doubt it was you. Harry what can I say, a man with all your experience. Sandman Norman
hiya,
wouldn’t be smiling norm had forgotten to put my teeth in that day,
thanks hary long retired.
Hi Guys and Norm
I appologise Ive had trouble answering previous topics , since Christmas somethings changed on this forum as I
m halfway through a topic I lose the forum completely and have to start again , mind you it doesnt catch me without me teeth in harry_gill . I shall have to leave the old Red and Rust for a while as I
m moving House and can`t trust France Telecom to hook me up .
Regards Frenchy
hiya,
thanks for that frenchy, sharp back mate,
thanks harry long retired.
hi harry, you may get the chance to do a refresher course, you still pay the fine but get no pionts on your license, good luck bumper
hiya,
thanks for the info bumper, but at the age of 73 i’m not too bothered about the points and i couldn’t be bothered wih courses i don’t drive much now anyway and if it wasn’t for my old lady i 'd chuck driving and hand over the handlebars to her i taught her well and can confidently go to sleep when she’s at the wheel it’s just when the old caravan’s on that i’m really needed she won’t pull that i obviously didn’t teach her well enough, thanks again mate i didn’t know about the course thing and they haven’t come back to me yet but i don’t think i’ll be looking for a job in the near or distant future so i’ll just pay the fine and accept the points graciously if not happily, not a bad record a few points in almost 57 years of driving ,i’ve been lucky though i used to like to put the old hammer down and have been pulled a few times but always managed to talk my way out of it trouble with cameras is they’re faceless and you can’t talk to them,ah well never mind.
thanks harry long retired.
Harry, you can only go on a speed awareness course if you are no more than five mph over the designated speed limit.
I was done in Llangollen on the A5 couple of years ago, not as many years under my belt as you mate, 44 years driving at the time, took the course, saved the points, cost me £60.00 for the course, also a 220 mile round trip to Greenfield in Flintshire to do it. I am very careful now. Probably still get done.
