hiya,
worked for the brs 3 times. i have said this previously the only proper job i ever had if it was still going the transport industry would have been a better place for everybody who didn’t like wearing spurs, when the last depot i was at closed i packed the distance work in and just did local for the local authority until i retired my class 1 expired half way through my last week and believe me iv’e never missed it, the brs where the best days of my life thanks harry long retired.

Hi nianiamh

Does anyone happen to have a list of depot codes ?. I have the BRS Book “The Early Years 1948 - 1953” but it seems they changed them after this time.
I’m trying to sort out photos and match them to depots, but I am struggling. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Cheers
Happy New year
Brian Edgar

Dya know Norman all the photo postings have opened perfectly ,Im dissapointed I cant open nianiamh , Ive logged onto photobucket and tried to paste em but no luck .
Bedgar047 , All I can tell you was Southampton was AS and in 1972 became RC , Bristol was AB and became RB , might help contacting the BRS association , there is a following they had thier 60th anniversary run 2008 .

The next few are out of the books i have

And this one from the tinterweb

Frenchy, its ashame about the photo’s, I go around the mountains to get things, I would print them, then scan the prints, into my gallery, then send them to my mates, but I would end up with them ha ha ha, a bit like me driving to Glasgow via Cardiff.

Bravo Nianiamh

Havnt a clue whats gone on with the pics, just glad you can now veiw them Frenchy  Since weve gone from BRS to Exel and now DHL all we have now is white units with blue trailers so not really worth looking at,
I cant see anyone in 20yrs asking if theres anyone with pics of plain white & blue motors, can you

This could have been Southampton for this Western BRS GUY but I am having trouble placing it with the Abbey National in the background.

Hi gazzer
Deafinately a Southern Lorry and that step frame trailer looks like it mightve been one of Southamptons cable carriers but cant make out the fleet codes so it could`ve been anyone of the southern depots .
Great pic though , keep em coming .
nianiamh
Been fiddling with Photobucket and Got all you pics now , many thanks .

Thanks Dave nice of you to tell us Sandman Norman

bedgar 047,
Only just looked at this site, l not been on forum long. l have a handbook the abc of BRS, lists all the depot area/district codes, 1st published in 1952, lists how many wagons & what size, whether 4/6/8 wheelers based at each depot. l also have my dads old copy of the BRS drivers handbook, not sure of exact year he was given it, but he was a Tramper out of Oxford from 1950-1958.
