no I don’t have issues! my wife at the age of thirty one had a heart attack ( quadruple by pass ) then a DVT in her right knee! Plus multiple pulmonary embolisms! at that young an age she was as fit as a fiddle and could walk miles! To have that snatched away from you, when she doesn’t smoke or drink is soul destroying for her so don’t whinge when someone’s extracting the urine on double yellows for twenty mins!

I don’t see why they’re allowed to park for 3 hours on double yellow lines. Surely they’re double yellow for a reason? 20 minutes to pop in a shop I’ll accept, if you can’t walk far it must be quite difficult but 3 hours is just taking the ■■■■.

I had the same thing from an old lady whilst parked slightly over a disabled bay. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone, it’s a vile thing to say, but drink plays a part in some of his postings

You’ve missed the point. I said 20 minutes is an acceptable time to stop on yellow lines if you can’t walk far. Parking on a busy road for 3hours to go shopping round town is what is taking the mick.

I do a lot of multidrop foodservice work in bury st edmunds and the loading bays are always full of cars! I normally have to park on double yellows or double park over the loading bay to do my delivery.
I used to keep driving round to get a bay but now think nothing of blocking a road if there are cars parked in bays.If anyone comes up and moans i just point to the offending car or cars and say if they wasnt there i wouldnt be blocking the road.
In my experience blue badge holders are very rarely the culprits,tends to be vans with a piece of paper on the dash saying working in … or members of the public who cant read a sign or a bright yellow hatched area marked ‘loading only’
I have seen the police giving tickets out but there isnt the resources to sit there and wait for them to park there.
Going on from what Essexboy said regarding tradesmen parking in bays and putting up a sign with “working in…” how does this stand legally? Tjey’re not unloading if they’re working inside somewhere are they?

I understand that a neighbour (in this case the council or the road owner, etc) is obliged to give reasonable access to maintain, repair, or renovate a property.
So, as the UK is a Liberal society I interpret the situation as being that anything goes if one can blag it.

Reading this thread I really wonder why there appears to be opposition from truckers regarding us being banned from city centres during the day.
How much easier would it be if all these awkward shops on high streets were forced to have their deliveries before 7am.
It would be yet another nail in the coffin for the High Street as we know it. Ask yourself what you want from your own local environment, is it a healthy & vibrant local economy, or an anonymous supermarket / shopping mall that ■■■■■ the local culture & it’s economy dry ?
