What’s the point of having a numberplate made, with the make of truck on it (say Scania 380) then sticking it on the spare rear numberplate bracket? Does anyone following actually care? A bit like vintage vehicles have a sign saying “you are following a 1957 Leyland Comet.”
And why block up the side windows with graphics that have (insert make ) with white swirls that resemble bird droppings?

I agree with this post to a certain degree - I think there is alot to be said for taking pride in your vehicle - and keeping it clean. With regard to mentioning Geoff Gilbert trucks and ‘bling’, Geoff had a strict policy on a limited number of items that could be put on each drivers truck - excessive stickers, reg numbers in the windows, frilly curtains, interior bright lights, bull bars, spot lights and stacks were all a no-no - any small extra items were allowed such as chrome butty boxes, hub covers and maybe horns - but thats about it. Geoff’s trucks stood out because the paintwork was exceptional and he always put Alcoa wheels on them to reduce weight. Most importantly, the trucks and trailers were ALWAYS kept clean. You couldn’t leave the yard without cleaning down. Less is more, and this worked for GG. They may be out of business now but I’ve had a Facebook page up for a few years now where all the drivers can post photos on the page and all the original drivers meet up once a month for breakfast to reminisce. Please feel free to take a look but do me a favor anyone who is taking photos from the group page - please just credit the person posted the photo before you post it on here (or any other page for that matter).

Pet hate those patterns. I tried to take them off my old unit but they wouldn’t budge. Luckily there’s none on my new one.
Other day I was in screwfix and top Scania boy in his V8 comes thundering in, retarder on full on the flat and were all parked up waiting for a bay. Matey boy comes out and tells me to go bay nine and asks why I’ve not got swish frilly curtains like V8 man. Because it’s not 1974 I reply to which he laughed and said they do look ridiculous.
Now there’s keeping things clean and tidy and then there’s tackyness.
TBH I find any of it tacky, I mean Paying your wages to make your boss’s wagon look “good” (use of that term very lightly).
Just screams to me of someone who’s not got much of a life when they step outside their cabs for their 45hrs off. .
Everyone’s got a passion I suppose, maybe I’m in the minority that does this job cos it pays ok for doing very little and minimal human interaction, not because I love trucks.
