Birds of prey.

eric the judge:
The birds are Red Kites which are slowly spreading across southern and eastern England after being reintroduced a few years ago

Thanks for that, they’re a fascinating sight to see, makes a change from all the stupid pigeons & i’m just surprised that they hunt so near the motorway.

A few years ago I saw a vultures flying round near Shefford area, few days later I found out it got lose from the bird of prey center in shutterworth

Not good to see white barn owls dead in the road.Never seen a dead bat run over.At least their radar works.

Not when they’re dead it don’t

I one went to a place in mid Wales, Gigrim Farm, to see the red kites. There’s a feeding centre there, never seen anything like it. Thousands of them. A few buzzards too. Well worth a run out.

They were first bred in West Wales ) near Tregaron. There used to be a holiday cottage next door to me - the visitors often asked where was the best place to see the red kites, The truth was Llanybydder at Oriel Jones abattoir

Theres is a lot of red kites up here in sw scotland, theres a feeding station just off the a75 near castle douglas. Often see them hovering when fishing at loch ken waiting to see if you leave any bait behind

There’s a pair of Ospreys at Threave Castle at Castle Douglas, just had a couple of chicks. Very impressive.

There is a place between Dunblane and Doune where you can see them as well.In Victorian times the keepers were poisoning them until they were almost extinct.

Good one, plan on calling in for a nosy on Sunday afternoon.

I often run round that area on a Saturday morning. Lovely paths and wildlife before the tourists are out and about.
