Best Route to south side of London Bridge

Thanks for all the help, that’s what I like about this site there’s always people willing to share there knowledge.

Looks like it’s the M11/ A406 NCR/ A12 / A11 or go all the way round through the tunnel, probably take the M11/A12/A11

mark croft, that looks useful information to have, to be honest I was surprised not to find more information on London bridges here.

thanks mark ive saved that for future reference.

cheers mate

I’ve a feeling that there isn’t a weight limit on the Rotherhithe although there is a physical width restriction in place stopping anything big going through.

The Woolwich ferry is OK if it’s off peak, you’re not in a hurry and both boats are in service otherwise they have a sign telling you how long the delay is (I saw it a 2hr the other week)

Don’t forget the Blackwall Tunnel, southbound is pretty good max height is about 15’6" ish and it used to have a tidal flow system in place, one lane each way in the morning. That has stopped now though and Nothbound in the morning is horrendous.

The Northbound tunnel is the original designed for horse and cart, it is about 13’4" max height (ish) has nasty little kinks in where you have to straggle the white line to get round. Oh and there are big tubes hanging from the roof above the right lane to stop trucks using it. These stop briefly at the bends so that you can wander over the line, you just have to pray that there are no numpty car drivers alongside.

The Rotherhithe tunnel was scary enough in a LWB Iveco van!

Sod taking a lorry down there. :open_mouth:
