There are so many people on this site that just moan for the sake of moaning, If you were instructed not to stop for 2 hours for the security of a high value load then don’t stop, Jesus, I know this is a forum for people to voice their opinions but some people on here really ■■■■ me off. We do a job every day and the trailer always leaves late and it a hard 4 hour drive to make the boat and we always cut it really fine to make it on time, all 20 of my drivers know they need to use the toilet before they set off as there is NO stopping till they get to the dock, sometimes we get to the boat as the ramp is coming up, none of them moan about their constitutional rights or breach of some European Human Rights ■■■■■■■■, they just get on with it and do the job they are paid to do. I wonder just how many of these people on this thread would actually tell their boss that ““If I want to stop I’ll stop”” after he has been told not to. Plenty of keyboard warriors I think.

If I posted on here the grass was green and the sky was blue there would be plenty of toss pots arguing i’m wrong !!

Rant Over - Please Have A Nice Day

WWW

No, not keyboard warriors, not all of us. Some of us actually have a bit of backbone and are willing to stand up for ourselves? I think you have scheduling issues with your boat run. Maybe you should re-evaluate that before one of your drivers kills somebody because he’s rushing for the boat? Frankly, I’m a bit surprised you posted such twaddle.

I think he’ll be ok, as he only employs drivers that can actually drive for the legal limit without collapsing and needing to be brought round with smelling salts. Unlike half the old women on here

Ooh, soooooo macho!

Why are you quoting the same thing more than once? Has the HSE got anything to say on forum etiquette?

Because I can! I’m not having some road rat telling me what to do! :stuck_out_tongue:

Your turn…

I have no problem with driving anywhere, work give me my paperwork and keys and off I toddle to wherever,
But what got me was the “do as I say attitude from the office bod in amazon”, it may have been a high value load but used to backload for BHS many a time ran back with a trailer full of wine and was left to our own devices.

Cant remember the last time did 4 1/2 hours driving in 1 go all the shops I do have a 2 hour delivery window and if I need the loo or a smoke then I stop

For christ sake are we lorry drivers or baby’s ,cut a bottle down and use it on the go ! :grimacing:

Cut a bottle down?? Jesus, your bell end must be well swollen if you can’t fit it in normally.

DHL had the same rules, but it came under airport security, they are not really bothered about theft, they are bothered about someone adding a parcel. They had an internal security force allegedly who tried to set drivers up, or report them if they did stop without authorisation. If you wanted a ■■■■, you just called in and told them where you were ■■■■■■■■

Terry T:
Maybe Interlink Idiot needed a 10-100 when he went round that island the wrong way, they’re not allowed to stop en route either :grimacing:

Actually they are but they have to phone the traffic office to let them know and also write it down on the run sheet so the traffic office know they’ve stopped for a reason and not been hijacked.

if it`s a time thing…then fair enough,i carry cereals…and can take a quick breakfast if needed…but no breakfast is not an option.

So where on earth is the problem? If they say to you ‘This load is a bit late can you push on down there please’ you say ‘Yeah no worries’ but if its ‘This is a high value load, we’d prefer you don’t stop’ its all ‘You’re not the boss of me, you cant tell me what to do’?! Take a bloody sandwich

Drivers eh…glad I don’t have to employ them

I don`t mind cracking on…within reason, but to go without tucker is taking the ■■■■ in my book.

I do take a sandwich…my personal favorites are tuna crunch and sweet chilli chicken, which I purchase from greggs en route :bulb:

like I said before, different drivers work in different circumstances.i do nights out “as and when” which may entail only one night out per week.
I`m sure you would agree, that a fully stocked pantry would be a waste in my situation :bulb:

I hate Amazon like the plague. Swansea, Doncaster and Dunfermline treat drivers like ■■■■ when delivering, so I wouldn’t listen to what they have to say of I was doing one of their loads.

Other scenario you been told because its high value not to stop

You say stuff it pull in. Services for coffee and ■■■■ cus your the big i am
Walling back to truck gun in your head and hi jacked hou been followed and they know what you got on

For sake of as someone said a 2.15hr drive and being the big bulshy i am right
May stop you seeing your family again

It doesnt happen often but it could be you

Man puts a gun to my head in that situation he gets offered the keys and i sit my fat arse down. Its all yours mate, fill your boots.

My life is worth more than a full load of PS4s.

Some interesting replies here.

My take on this is to use common sense, if you have to stop for a jimmy or to stretch your legs for 5 cos you’re losing concetration then stop in a sensible place and keep an eye out for anyone tailing you, or likely suspects before exiting the cab.

Amazingly these high value loads often only have a plastic seal on the back, so i always carried a substantial padlock and slipped it on the back before nipping into the services to the bog, i’d also park the lorry with the back doors visible to lots of other people, its not rocket science its using your loaf.

The other deciding factor is to judge the job on its merits, if it pays well enough to take the crap then so be it, if its normal rubbish pay then you won;t be too bothered if they get the hump and boot you out.

These companies have to get their act in order too, if they want quality well motivated staff who will cross every t and dot every i for them, then they’d better treat and pay them properly, and politeness and good manners goes a long way too, always has.

Cake and eat it.

The services are the last place you’ll get hijacked - too many folk about!

As Juddian said, a lot want their cake and to eat it! A lot of these places pay peanuts and by the sound of it are getting monkeys that toe the line, come what may!

It’s no big deal driving 4 hours plus. BUT, that should be the driver’s choice, not an order from a plank in an office.

If it wAsnt for some of the “planks” then drivers would have no work

Some attitudes of todays drivers make me laugh no wonder employers are turning to ee drivers and from next year 000’s of romanians and bulgarians be here happy to drivefor 2 hrs non stop for less money aswell

Few years back we use todo alot of high value (not saying what)
We had unmarked armed police escorting us and one up front keeping eye out
If we had to do a solid 5 hr drive then this what had to be done
Tachos were used but dispention letters and all tachos signed by relevent police etc
No probs with vosa visits

Use to do these across europe to and same from calais meet french armed unmarked police etc a few times do 4 hrs in uk then 8 hrs dowm rhrough france in a day
To park inside secure warehouses etc but in that 8 hrs we would pull in for a ■■■■ or coffee etc

2 hrs cant see what the big issue is after all your paid to drive not toss it off
Whats the bets you had 4 hour drive home on a friday
With 4hr 10 mins spread left i guarantee you be home that night (traffic permitted)

Way it is now company’s arnt earning 000’s
So keep tossing it off everyday then miss your backload
Load the following day by end of week you down 2/3 loads company makes a loss
Cant afford it anymore so pAcks in and your on the dole as with the influx next year of foreign workers you will be to expensive to employ

In general now not including specialist work
I guarantee you most drivers earn more in wages than the employer does
Out the truck every week
And be a few operaters on here that back that up

gettin-on:
I guarantee you most drivers earn more in wages than the employer does

As far as employing drivers from other parts of Europe goes with the hope of ‘cheap labour’ don’t worry it wont take long to induct them into our ways.

RDC’s are great for this- ‘whats that Yuri, your only on £10 an hour for a Saturday must be because your foreign about time your lads get together and demand fair treatment’.
Plant the seed and let it grow

At first Yuri’s reply is usually ‘its 3 oclock’ but as their grasp of the language grows so does their coming round to our way of thinking.

gettin-on:

another guarantee

Ill guarantee youll not make it,so I`ll be pulling into the nearest(to the yard) decent truckstop for the night, and running in on Saturday rate :sunglasses:

and then of course…the truck will get a good clean :sunglasses:

So, some drivers on here who are employed as LORRY DRIVERS can’t drive 2hrs without stopping and think doing a 4hr / 4.5hr run is a health and saftey risk and will kill someone Jesus Christ :unamused: No wonder this industry is ■■■■■■. Certainly separates the Drivers and the screw drivers. :unamused:

Back in a bit…need a pee

Who says they are gonna let you sit there comfy watchin them pull away? Keep her chappin and avoid the chance opportunity. Office knows best, so get on with it, then get home…simples! Why do so many drivers think they know better than office planners!!!

How many posts since last night :open_mouth:
