Just thought I would post this one parked up.
The colour of that trailer looks strangely familiar, Paul.

There are the odd occasions when my one remaining brain cell fires on more than one cylinder!

You mean that it was actually painted with rust from new ROF!!
Pete.
Yes, indeed! All George Neville trailers were primed in British Rust.

That explains the state of it then, looks like it has been shot blasted. Was it blue originally? Never had dealings with Neville bodies on our eight leggers, we had Thynne (poor, cracked up everywhere!) and Cravens/Tasker which stood up to abuse well.

Hi anorak , i know this isn’t about the TM, but interesting anyway- this has been mentioned elsewere ,that two Swift transport Ford Transcontinentals were used as a test bed by DD Alison Wellingborough for these engines , one a 6v92 the other a 8v92 .

More good detective work from Boris. I’ll copy it over to the LHD TM thread, because that is where the main bunfight is!
Weren’t many 4-wheelers with the full-width/sleeper. This 1 looks hard-worked. Chris
From the ■■■■■■■ badge it seems to have been specc’ed for trailer operation from new.

Or possibly converted from a Tractor Unit?
OK. It’s been a long day!
The Bedford TM was a fantastic vehicle but it was way too ahead of it’s time, just like the Scammell Crusader and Ford Transcontinental.

I would have said the opposite, all 3 of them arrived on the market too late, foreign competition wouldn’t have had a look in if these motors were released a few years earlier.
I guess though it took foreign competition to get Brits to produce motors like these

I remember the L reg Scammell Crusader, the only decent foreign vehicles were Volvo F88 and Scania 110, yet most fleets preferred Atkinsons with Gardner 180’s.
