Probably because the police don’t pay you tens of thousands of pounds for telling them lies. They tend to charge you for wasting their time too.

When people are prospering, they want to look at scantily-clad bodies.

“Payslips” are the secret of secrets for most people, and in that regard - we’ve become rather like the GERMANS who are very private indeed about “Finance”, but are quite happy to get their flabby bits out at the drop of a Bratwurst.
We live in an age of Austerity now - so people COVER UP.
