Battle of the truck SatNavs

I enjoyed reading your post i feel some of your analysis needs some improvement.

I have never believed that a HGV satnav has the computational requirements to GUIDE round road restrictions. I have always stuck to the Trucker Atlas and use CoPilot standard as it does offer something that others don’t which is route preferences. selecting Motorway, Dual Carriage way, A-roads as Strongly Favoured has quided me round most of this country with little trouble. In a new job i thought i’d try CoPilot HGV and another app on the phone. Also now pulling 15’5" so thought about a truck satnav again.

To test them out i used two destinations with bridges
a] LN3 5UE - British Sugar Bardney aka Jordans & Riveta
4 bridges to negotiate to get to Bardney
Route from north Lincoln round the by-pass
B1188 - through Branston - 3rd left to Nocton - B1202 - B1190 - Bardney
Both managed that.
OR to save on small roads
A185 - B1202 - Bardney but longer.

b] Ravago Building Solutions PE30 2HJ
King’s Lynn has two bridges approaching from the A17. The route i was expecting was
A149 - 1st exit onto A1076 - past Austin Fields Ind Est - A1078 - Estuary Road

OR A149 - Grimston Road - A148

NEITHER managed this which was quite a simple computation i would have thought.

In my view ‘stay with the map’, study the route and add way points to bring you in.

Regret to say i don’t trust the HGV satnav and won’t bother with the expense.
