O.K. It was the tunnel entrance that threw me but now I realise I’m looking at it from the wrong direction. Just wait until you get to my age!

Trevor Price - RIP , who lived in Talgarth owned this Dodge WVJ 653T from new untill he retired.
He was hauling steel billets from Duport Llanelli to the midlands. Before that,he was driving the F88 for us,doing the same work.-- The one in my Allan Spillet’s Painting --JGB 571N - Price of Llandovery.

Hi Hywel,
What is the story behind your photograph of WVJ 653T? It appears to be photograph of a clip from a S4C programme.

Regards Dave)

Hello Dave,
Yes it was on TV at the time of the strikes in the early 80s. It’s a poor photo -I took the photo off my tv recording of the strikes. The Dodge was going into Duport Steelworks Llanelli through the picket line. They also showed Royse Jones in his Transcon going out loaded.
I went through that picket line afew times myself, but stopped going there when it got a bit rough.
The steelworks closed down soon after the strike. We hauled the steel billets for ten years.
Regards - Hywel.)

IIRC this was about Benidorm on the infamous N340 coast road circa 1974.

There was one with a firm in Auchenleck it was tractor unit supplied new and had a V8 ■■■■■■■ after a few months it threw the flywheel through the bellhousing and continued to make a bad habit of it so after putting up with it for a while they evenyually sold it on. Eddie.
