Barnfather & Wilkes

Is this the same Barnfather that the fellow from A One took over and consequently bust?

i believe they did buy some a- one stuff
tryed typing in barnfather in the search box , but found very little - and was hoping some one may have pictures

Hi Duncan, an aquaintance of mine who lives at Leeming Village drove for Barnfather’s for 30 + years. His name is Eric Moody and he speaks very highly of the company, nothing was to much trouble and when he was away on distance they made sure that his family were looked after and even repaired his wife’s car if it broke down. Not many firms like THAT around today (apart from Mr Stobart of course!! ).

Pete.

he may have known /worked with my father [joe bladen] , or some of his mates - bobby boad, eric stoker, bryce graham , so numerous i cant remember , but then i was only 5yrs old [now47 haha]

I remember Barnfathers mk2 F10s and FL10s, weren’t they blue with a red rectangular box on the cab door with Barnfather written in white…

And am I right in remembering that they used to work for Philips in Durham?

found this on scrapbook

the black n white picture above were the old colours [dark green with white band ] they did a lot of work for phillips/thorn , and myson heating on team valley as well as general haulage .
they had a mixture of motors , then started getting f86s on general haulage , and some f88s .
if i remember they got a contract for thorn/myson heating and had some bedford tm tractor units painted blue with a box decal on door and on front of cab with “thorn” .
they started getting a big fleet of volvos almost exclusively starting with f7,s that were starting in 82/83 , followed by some f10 , then they went to fl10 . they also had 1 wagon and drag driven by “plastic billy” think it was a daf 2500day cab with pod .
this was when they had myson heating contract , and lots of curtainside trailers ,
they expanded into warehousing , and purchased lots of warehouses around the country .
dad left the company to go work for W.A Glendinning in the late 80/or early 90s , he never said why he left , but barnfathers didnt last much longer after he left ?

Hi duncan these were taken at normans cafe at brotherton ,hope there what your looking for, regards mick.
