Bad week this week

Drift:
I cant wait for summer in my wagon…

Looks more uncomfortable than a Scania.

Now would be a good time to post a link to the Monty Python sketch of the four Yorkshiremen.

they look like Jennings conversions on onwards erfs

I also saw globby480 and phill berg. I am not saying that the truck was bad to drive. But it was just a manual gearbox.

Oh my god, a manual gearbox…like virtually all of us have been using for years and years.

You poor badly treated person. Would you like a hug to make you feel better? :unamused:

Thoght of this thread today whilst doing a cheeky 8 hours at quadrulpe double triple time + a BJ from the planner (thanks John).
Anyway those who know me will be well aware I’m quite fond of Volvos and since being back in the saddle on and off for the last 6 months I have driven at least 20 different units with the impressive auto box.

But OMG today the auto would not play ball in cruise control it was block shifting when it shouldn’t then changing its mind and also not shifting down till the revs where so low that it was embarrasing.

Anyway against my better judgement I pulled the lever back into ‘M’ (manual) mode don’t panic CC still works in manual and I had to drive for at least an hour using my thumb to change up or down through the gears based on my own judgement of the approaching road conditions.

My poor thumb is absolutly knackered and to compound things its the thumb I use to open me flask whilst in motion. I mean i may as well have been driving an eaton twin splitter such was the frantic thumb action.

I’m almost glad to get home to me shoe box in the middle of the road.

Don’t panic people I am back at seniors driving to Scarborough tommorow so if you see me on m1, a64 give a flash. Will be in a white scania ex Stobart. Also will be a at
fuel bunker filling up about 2pm. Truck reg px08 exp.

I was not saying I haven’t used a manual box but it was a different animal.
Thanks
Aftab

Shoe box■■?

Aftab, don’t worry about getting spoke to like that at maritime, always like that! :sunglasses: especially in Yorkshire! what’s up with the colour of your skin? :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

Awwww he had to drive a manual.

Got 2 drops in the morn, 1st preston to little langdale. Then run up to 2nd drop in kinlochbervie. In a bleeding auto box.
Oh for a nice manual box in me wee daf,
All 7.5 ton of the crap heap I love to drive

Fake picture- its still daylight, plenty more driving to be done
Reckon 5 minutes after this picture was taken the frillies, memory foam mattress and egyptian cotton sheets where out.

Is it just me or does the chap on the top bunk look a little nervous, I hope this isn’t connected to the position of the chaps fingers on the bottom bunk.

At least those two lads in the steam lorry have a decent night heater, provided they remembered to coal it up before beddy byes. And no windows to scrape the frost from in the morning either, I bet they were ‘Top Dog’s’ in their day (probably WW1 veterans as well) on about 10 shillings a week plus NO night out money. No POA wage either for spending two hours a day getting steam up before they set off at 5 mph, now THAT was a rough days work only they didn’t know anything different of course!

Pete.
