Backloads/partial loads

Possibly no longer happens but, sometimes in the past, ‘your’ return load rate later became the rate that the companies usual hauliers were also expected to run at as well. Then they jacked it in as they couldn’t make it pay and therefore that rate stayed low, only REAL winner was the company getting their stuff shifted for peanuts.

Pete.

The West German hauliers enjoyed the best domestic rates as the Railway called the shots rateswise.Say the haulier got a job from Bremen to Munich he was able to charge for the roundtrip then he was free to pick up a load in Munich for back home and get paid for another round trip,I kid you not! I was able to compare some of our UK rates with a German haulier and I only had a couple of jobs out of many that equaled his schedule. But of course all this came to a crashing end when they were re-united with the East and all the Euro borders opened up,boy did the Dutch hauliers have a field day ! they went through the German traffic like a dose of salts! They cut the Railway schedules to ribbons ! Cheers Bewick.

You’re too late to the table.
