Back to work blues

Start tomorrow 6-30am been off since 9th December and still don’t want to go back.

uo at 3 to get to leicester for 8, mortifiied

BillyHunt:
I’m back in tomorrow at the crack of 1800 hrs, 4 on 3 off, it’s quite nice really.

I’m back in on Tuesday at the crack of 17:00, 4 on 4 off, it’s even nicer

My week was actually to fly as passenger from Belfast 1200 on a Monday via LHR arriving into Jeddah 0600 the following day. Usual 3 hours clearing customs/immigration then hotel 0900 and 24 hour slip, losing an entire nights sleep then up 0500 and training for 2 days, min rest, then 23 hour long duty to West Africa, min rest then 19 hour long duty Iran, min rest then Iraq, then Dhaka layover then home on another “lost nights sleep” slip. And that’s an easy week. Normally that crap for 3 weeks solid, but instead I’m watching back to the future and annoying the misses with the British Christmas lurgy of course

My body clock is gubbed sitting eating ice cream watching MOTD when I should be sleeping for a 06.00 start.

I know the feeling about the body clock. I’ve not had a body clock for years. Done all the classics when you give up and stop fighting the inevitable - breakfast beers after you arrive on a layover with the lads feeling spaced out at 0700 sitting outside a courtyard bar watching people in shirts walk to work whilst you feel shot in the eyes/laughing with slight delirium and sunburn/sand still in your ears and knowing your washing is still lingering on 2 continents someplace. I come home and still have to bleed the radiators for the misses, fix the shelf, listen to the shopping stories and nod in agreement about the horrid man who took her parking space at the supermarket that last Tuesday

Its been fantastic working, driving on the roads the past week, with very little traffic on the roads.
The only minor delays I`ve encountered around Manchester is the crowds of shoppers heading to the Trafford centre, but if I timed it right other times last week getting to Eccles I have usually missed any delays. enabling me to do Doncaster - Gadbrook in under 2hrs each way, where as this morning, and any other Monday morning it would be 3hrs+

I finished the Friday before Christmas and started back yesterday, did 650kms and had enough, laid in bed until 1030 this morning and set off again, I had two trailers, one of which I dropped at our Calgary terminal at 2100 and then I had planned to run until midnight with the single trailer and get into the mountains ready for tomorrow, however there’s a mental winter storm going on out there, a couple of feet of snow, ice rain and the possibility of avalanches, so I had a complete lack of motivation, stayed in Calgary and went for a chinky with one of the other drivers.

Wish I had stayed at home for another week

Blimey that sounds like proper trucking. Those conditions would have lesser men calling for mummy.
Did my walk round checks this morning and noticed a slight breeze but will go for it.

Got out truck, went flying on ice ( yard not gritted ) ,done shoulder ,wrist ,banged head, happy new year :exclamation: :exclamation: .
Company rang too see if I’d be ok for work though :unamused: :unamused:

I had a long first day back. 1 drop up in Leeds . Nice to have a good run after 2 weeks off. Started at 0550, back home by 1220

11 1/2 months of normal conditions and 2 weeks of relatively Muppet free roads. The 11 1/2 months started today :frowning:

Just to add to the topic, my new year break began on Tuesday afternoon and ended at 0730 on Thursday. At least I am off Wednesday and Thursday this week. The law says so!
