b & m stores.

PaulNowak:
Currently sat at goods in. It’s no wonder they’ve got nothing to pick if this is how long it takes them to tip you.

How long?

Maybe you were forgotten about like me. :frowning: Some embarrassed member of staff ended up signing my paperwork without anything checked last time when 3 hours after my trailer was tipped I quizzed them as to wtf I was still waiting :unamused:

7 pallets. 90 minutes. An hour of that I was the only truck on goods in

not looking great then?

I have missed 4 phone calls and had an email from them in the last few days regarding starting at b and m. Clearly drivers aren’t queuing up to get in there.

I have a start date but have heard little off them which is worrying. had a phone call from the transport office last week asking if i’d given the job any consideration. I told them about my start date and they were surprised that they hadn’t been told!! :frowning:

PaulNowak:
My mate started last Monday (induction) and hit the road Tuesday, having not sat in an artic for 3 years.

By Thursday he was mentoring new starters.

The uniform hasn’t turned up yet, and they keep having to go to Speke to pick up loads because the picking isn’t happening to schedule at Middlewich. He wanted Mon-Fri ams, which wasn’t available, so he took Tues-Sat (still ams)

So far I think his earliest start has been 11.30, stuck on pms. Told them that if they don’t switch him to ams in the next couple of weeks he may as well tramp, for the amount of time he’s getting with his family.

Don’t think I’ll be applying anytime soon.

Yeah it shows some of them are a little rusty I’ve just watched some fella take 3 shunts to get under his trailer!

Don’t fancy there chances when the arrive at a store

They can’t even get shunters. Fella this morning in the tug being talked through a simple reverse onto a bay.

Apparently one guy turned up to start as a shunter, and the guy who was meant to train him asked out of curiosity where he’d come from.

Wilkos

Which one?

Northwich

They haven’t got a depot in Northwich have they?

No, I was a sales assistant

So you haven’t even got a class 1 licence?

No

Guy refused to train him, firstly because of the licence thing, and secondly because he found out that the newbie was on a higher rate of pay than him.

So rather than show him the door, they brought a guy down from Speke to train him

I would never criticise a driver for taking a few goes to get onto a bay or in and out of a tight place whatever is expected or their experience, we all have off days or are just not good at it, but as long as its safe there is no issue but that shunter story above is exceptional, not about the guy learning (we all have to) but about the companies arrogance to its other employees :open_mouth:
