Axminster transport

Great memories.

I remember a story about a Cadwalader driver by the name of Frank Ward cleaning one of there Freauhauf’s and then polishing it with cans of Mr Sheen,.must have taken a few cans. FRANK went on to work for many other Fridge companies, and I think had his own lorry at one time. I worked alongside him at Solstor in the late 80s he was driving for Danny McGee, that was the last I heard of him.

What a way to clebrate reaching retirement age, don’t think the boss will let me retire though.

Haven’t seen them before Dean not even sure who it is . Thanks for the post’s mate. Stopped here today to take this pic really sad to see it in this state ,shame Eppy couldn’t come back and put some life in it.

Hi Cliff that makes me feel sad to think of all the good times we had in Victors over the years but I suppose we have all moved on. We can tell lots of stories that occurred there and the people we used to meet in there, you are included in them and most boys that we knew back in the day. I am so pleased you had a great retirement party with a lot of your friends, sorry I couldn’t make it but I am sure we will celebrate it next time we meet up.The thread goes from strength to strength keep it up mate. All the best Geoff

Is there any old Axminster, Central Road, Martin Male, Wheaton.drivers out there that would be interested in having a get together in the new year. ■■?

I’ll take that as a no then.
What a cracking motor this was to drive, really thought this was the mutts nuts in it’s day.

Hi Cliff,
From previous page i cant remember you pulling a flat always a fridge man and your get together enquiry jogged a memory, I’m thinking
I remember a driver from Wheaton’s smashing chap called Les, I seem to remember him having a new AEC Mandator sleeper p/steering
and fuller g/box, if iv’e got this right I met him again a couple of years later with a Wheaton’s 290.
Or have I gone senile.
Oh happy retirement, after reading your post’s I don’t know that you’ve earned it.lol
Hope you are well Norman
