Here’s another one to keep us going one from Peter’s collection.
Going to Gordy Knowlton funeral tomorrow expect to see a lot of old faces there, that I travelled with during my year’s at Axminster transport, and later while working for myself. R.I.P. old friend.

Cliff there should be a lot of old friends at the funeral,I know that we will see a lot that we have not seen for years. Lets send the old boy off in style. I don’t think any of us can’t remember that route to Portugal without bumping into Gordy somewhere along the route. He was a Gentleman on earth so I am sure he will make a good Angel in Heaven.RIP Gordy
This one makes me realise how long ago I was driving a lovely lorry doing a great job meeting very good friends and visiting interesting places. What a job!.1975. 40 years ago.Sorry for the damage to the photo.
Great turnout for Gordy’s funeral he was taken to the church on the back of one of Wyvern Cargo Scania tractor units .Well done everyone involved, and Andre for driving him.R.I.P. old friend.

Here they are the old and the new all of them very old now, but great motors in their time.Could you imagine a mirror like the F10 now.
Great photo there cliff old and new at least in those days you could buy a glass and fit it yourself even if it wasn’t the right one it would get you out of bother we probably all lost a few in our time .cheers Dennis
Morning Dennis.
I am some sure we all have. I’ve been up the A35 couple times lately and although most of it is all nice and wide now and misses out such bottle-necks as Axminster used to be there are still a couple of interesting spots.
Before you get to Charmouth, coming from Exeter, there is a down hill bit between some trees where it gets distinctly narrow - bottom clenching narrow if there is another wagon coming the other way - and I noticed that both sides of the road therecare literally dozens of mirrors. Whoops! At least in our day the glasses were cheap.
David
David I know where you mean and that is an A road . The other day I cut across from Dorchester to crewkerne I couldn’t believe that was the road we used going from chard to Poole ferry with hanging beef always on a mission to get your T forms made out and catch the afternoon boat maybe having to do 2 or 3 drops in Rungis through that night only to be told at the last drop you have to be in Surgeres or Bressuire that same morning eyes hanging out of your head and we still think they were good days lol . Dennis
Did Phill have 2 of those Geoff ?
Always liked the livery of axminster transport as i was/am still a big leyland/roadtrain fan.
Use to see them in ciba geigy bonded structures waiting to tip at duxford, cambridgeshire. The factory in the village.
My dad drove a scammel constructor8 delivering coal to cibas.
Brought back some great memories seeing these…

You may be thinking of his ERF B-series presented in identical livery, Kerbut. If you look on the Poole thread there are pics there. But if there WERE two of these ERF NGCs in Phil’s fleet I’d love to hear about the other one! Cheers, Robert

Another good gathering at the Quaterdeck in West Bay on Saturday to celebrate Mickey Bristow birthday, now retired but drove for Framptons for many years.A lot of drivers from Poole but also Les travelled from Norfolk and Dave from Milton Keynes thank you all for a great night. .
Another one from our favourite mountain, could be you Dennis.
Hi Cliff, hope you,re well mate…another great photo.
i reckon we must all have photos of Mt. Cenis but i never tire of seeing new ones.
Brings back happy memories of when the job was fun…Hard sometimes but a joy to be part of it…
Remember Eric Baker had a home made trailer about 55ft long he used it to bring store escalator elevators back from Italy think he had a contract, followed Mick with the beard who drove for him over Cenis and when he went round some of those steps the bumper bar at the back grounded because the road dropped off so sharply, as you say Tone good old days,
Hi Buzzer, when i was on for Squibby we had a step frame tilt on small axles and that
used to do the same…ground on the steps that is.
Thinking back, they had a few really bad tilts that used to bend banana shaped.
Wasn,t ideal when transiting Cenis loaded with loose scrap metal…
Having said that, they did later purchase new Trailor tilts , barn doors ,n all.
