@parkroyal2100 What a picture, 4 Brits, 1 German and 3 Yanks. Is the Foden on the left one of Ted Stilesā Outback Transportās? Canāt see a name but the colour scheme looks similar.
Dunno Spardo, long before my time (but I remember Brambles depot in Port Kembla well, used to go there frequently). I didnāt mean to share the photo but it just turned up when I posted the link, perhaps Ray Dyson (if heās still around) could help you. Itās a cracking photo all the same and I hope I donāt get into deep doo-doo for posting the link.
Forgive the sentimentality, but I think itās rather a shame that so many decent ācookingā old Falcons (and Holdens) get ārestomoddedā - by all means fit better brakes and suspension, but otherwise leave them alone.
Great picture PR. The Foden also looks like Aboods livery, but hard to say in black and white.
The three from the same fleet, far right, are also interesting. Maybe Brumbles, but the sign writing doesnāt look right. Two B Model Macks and an AR190(?). All three have mechanical arms on the driversā doors, in lieu of blinkers. Note the period customised long range fuel tank, a surplus 44 gallon drum, quite common in the day.
As I said to Spardo, I didnāt mean to post the photo, it just came up when I posted the link.
The Foden does remind me of Aboods, but then in an old B/W photo a red and white livery might be more distinct. See that cobbled-together sleeper cab on the back? This might ring a bell
Do you get coverage? If not, and you have a VPN, it is live streamed on
and Fox Sport.
@Spardo yes a public road. It was built as a lookout during the depression, to provide work.
A mate of mine also drove it and mentioned how different it looked to raceday broadcasting. Later he realised heād driven around in the wrong direction.
I took my eldest daughter around, in a company owned XF Falcon, all the residents wheelybins were awaiting emptying and she commented āItās a good thing the race isnāt on a Tuesday.ā
Itās an awesome track with a vibrant atmosphere on the race weekend, but you canāt beat the TV for coverage.
The in car cameras brilliant coverage was developed by channel 7 and adopted worldwide.
