Overland operated out of the Airport before ECM they did deliver BMC cars but ran Commers & Traders no BMCs in them days then moved onto Mercs. We both had compounds at Kidlington where we stored the BMC cars before transporting them north.

" King of the Hill " , as this Morris is perched on the highest parking place at Barnard Castle Truck Show,
either 2010 or 2011.
Not many of the FF tractor units have survived into restoration, but this one is a reminder from the 1960`s.

Cheers, cattle wagon man.

P.S.
erfguy, - sorry , I can not help you with your question. However , I am sure that that Bewick will remember the
car transporters` name, or someone who lived next to the (then) busy A6 will know.

Heres a fully restored classic, Owned by Colin Hogg [Senior] of Murray Hogg Ltd North Gosforth, Photo with the courtesey of Colin, Regards Larry.

Our garage had a Gypsy as a breakdown vehicle Larry and it was a decent machine. Fitted with the 2.2 petrol engine it was nicer to drive than a Land Rover but had a tendency to put the crown wheel through the rear axle casing when pulling (over) loaded seven tonners! I have seen a few of the ex Home Office ones at shows, they had spent the past few years in storage before being sold so had been undercover and done little mileage. Surely a good buy?

Pete.

12 ton unit with Tasker Burtonwood Trailer 1958

transporter man Thanks for the reply and yes it was Overland I will put it down to an age thing Again. Eddie.

A few from the fuels and oil company’s thread

Remember driving one like that, for Shell Authorised Distributor, Hartwells Oils in Oxford, in the bad winter of '62/63, only some of ours had a fibreglass skirt all round & the reel & metre housed in a large “boot” on the rear end. An interesting winter that was, to say the least! with many a yarn spun from that time! :open_mouth:

With its two-tone blue cab, and red wheels and chassis , this 1966 reg. Austin FFK 140 shines in the sun.
Displaying the name of " H.Kershaw & Sons , it looks as if it has just left the coachpainters .
Photographed on the road run , at the Kirkby Stephen Easter Rally , earlier this year.

Aye, thats proper snow up on those Pennines !! Surely thats not a sleeping tent on the back ■■

Cheers, cattle wagon man.

One of the BMC Competition buses.
oily

BMC used to have similar vehicles to those as training classrooms, they used to spend a day or so at the dealer’s to update staff on various modifications etc (which in the case of the FJ would be weekly! ) but I cannot recall ever using one so I guess that it mainly concentrated on the car section of the company?

Pete.

This is a replica, but very nicely done.

This must have been one of the first trucks in the Glendinning fleet, not sure of the age but it was bought new from Charles Buist in Newcastle, the picture was taken in Shotley Bridge.

Cracking photo TM, I wonder if the driver was one of the Glenndinings The old wagon would be 1935ish Keep them rolling, Regards Larry.

Turners ran some out of their Norwich depot in the early '60s mostly in artic form if I remember correctly.
