At the end of the day I hate my rota but like the work I do and the pay ain’t bad. The only thing making me looking at a move is the ■■■■ rota and that alone. I knew a move to ASDA pointless when I found out it was any 5 from 7 but posted on here to get a heads up.

Bloody ridiculous these days expecting people to work any 5 from 7, particularly at the ■■■■ poor rates being offered.
After a week’s work a driver deserves two days off together minimum, if they want to do overtime and cut it down to one day off so be it, their choice, but large companies compelling their supposedly well treated staff to shift patterns like that is a ■■■■ take, and once more the companies deserve exactly the sort of people they are likely to get and the resulting wreckage.Pretty much spot on there Clown, these firms are not for experienced drivers to be suffering. They have their place but they have a high turnover of drivers as well as the damages.
Not entirely sure where you get the high turnover from, we have at least 50% of the drivers on over 10yrs service, quite a few have hit 25yrs this year too. I’m a newbie at 3yrs and a year on agency before that, had a couple leave in that time but mostly retire. Other depots may differ though. As for wreckage, even our warehouse to wheels aint bending much. yeah its 5 from 7 but I know what Ive got for the year in advance and start at the same time every day. If I want to go non seeking overtime, all I do is 9hrs a day every day. 15 quid an hour for 45 hrs a week doing 8am-5pm isnt all bad, plus an extra 1.50 an hour 1400 onwards for late premium plus another fiver an hour for anything over the 9 if you want the ot.
I like my days off in the week, take the boat out, get the gun out and take the dog shooting, nice and quiet. horses for courses. some may want to do 4 on 4 off, some mon-fri, some all weekends. Just because it doesnt suit your lifestyle, dont knock how it suits others.

Why can’t big plc,do what general hauliers have been doing for years, 5days and 6 days, and your either a Saturday man or a Sunday man,Because times have moved on. Drivers don’t want to work every weekend day. 5 days is more than enough. 4 days is plenty (unless you’ve debted yourself up to your eyeballs), hence why if your operation runs at weekends then 4 on 4 off is the perfect solution, assuming that the overall money is sufficient to cover working the weekend days. Too many old skool drivers still refuse to work weekends so [zb] it up for everyone at 24/7 companies, necessitating the stupid rotas that the OP speaks of just to accommodate them. If I were running the place it would be 4 on 4 off for everyone with the money being attractive enough to offset working the weekends. Anyone who doesn’t like it
there’s the door.
And there is the reason you can’t attract new or retain old drivers.
I’m old…but not old skool.
The day my operation demands weekend work is the day I’m off. I have my kids weekends, and that isn’t changing. My obligation to them precedes any commitment to driving a truck.
