Arla Foods, Stourton Leeds

Hiya Richard - hope alls well at Drivers Plus…

… went up there today and was pleasantly surprised. They were interviewing eight for 4 driving positions today and I was told that if i didn’t get one of those there was a chance later.

Shifts on days start between 5am and 7:30am and nights were starting between 5pm and 6 pm. Pity really - i was under the impression there was more flexibility but never mind might not even get an offer.

The driving assessor was a cool dude and fair man - he was happy to expalin the 8 gear spilt box for me as I had never used one. Had a nervous drive down the M1 motorway and along the M62 west off to go A653 past White Rose, up past Elland Road and then to the M621 and back to Stourton.

Anyway - hope everyone else had a good time and - let us all know how u get on.

So what trucks they got ? ERF & Scania ? did they say owt about how many drops a day ? what trainings involved ? did they ask about Tanker experience ? what general things they looking for ? is it 4 on 4 off then ? overtime mentioned ? PM me if you want mate

Hey Toby

Was taken out in ‘54’ reg ERF but they’ve said they’re ‘hopefully’ be getting Scania replacements.

Two runs per day or night, one with maybe 4 farms then the second with maybe 6 farms - I was presuming back to Stourton each time to drop load but it could be Northallerton or Thirsk.

I’ve applied thru Drivers Plus and temp to perm and if offered it’d be training up then out with someone to learn routes - up to three ?

Thirteen weeks and then if all’s well permanent. 4 on four off for two weeks then 5 on 3 off for six or whatever the rota is - just to make sure you get four days/nights in in any particular Mon- Sun ‘week’.

No overtime mentioned but sure it’d be available.

I wasn’t all that bothered really about asking questions as I think the hours won’t suit - which is a shame it sounds like a decent number except when you are up on some muddly bleak farm in the Dales in the rain and wind covered in cow manure with a pedigree Rottweiler snapping at your testicles or maybe when it’s four feet of snow on the ground and the roads have black ice on…

… but maybe I’m just being pessimistic. Ha !

Malcy

who took you out? And did they give any timescales since i believe the increased operation wont be coming online till october■■?

Nick was the driving assessor. Likes to stalk and shoot Deer and wild things.

Yeah it’s all building up to October. But training people takes time I guess. The guy who interviewed me said they were looking for four out of the eight interviewed today to start shortly.

Thanks Malc :sunglasses:
