Easiest way to find out how bad your eyes are is to pop into the Local Pound Shop and try the £1.00 Glasses they sell.
I thought my eyes were spot on but found myself straining to read small print, I invested in a pair of £1 specs and hey presto and small print is easily read
Having recently paid £200 for my first pair of seeing eye glasses, I noticed that my “presciption” was endorsed “+1.5”
A week or so later, I saw those specs in tubes on an MSA.
They are marked on the top with various strengths - 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 etc etc etc
Cost - £2.99 (or such)
But obviously - I couldn’t read that until I’d spent the £200+

I remember years ago when I went for my PSV medical at the company doctors. I was there with an old driver that had failed his eyesight test because he couldn’t read the required line with one of his eyes covered. He was arguing with the nurse because he said he didn’t drive with one eye shut!!!
If you do need glasses don’t buy from the optician’s shop - there are a number of web sites that will fill your prescription for a lot less, and they are just as good.
I could name one my brother has used, but I’m probably not allowed

Go for it. Personal recommendation’s fine in this context.
