Been on LPG mini-bulkers for a while now and some roads are right belters. There are times when you HAVE to be nice to a farmer and his tractor!faz82:
Thats Hardknott Pass in ■■■■■■■■ no way would you get a truck over it…IIRC somebody tried it in a Spar W & D a couple of years ago. Don’t think he got very far.

…Heres a couple of pics of some of the type of roads we go down most weeks…Pic 4 (with the ford): Had some fun on a road like that just along from Irongray recently, not the same one is it? Unsure as it’s not pitch black and there’s no sheet ice!
Wasnt the spar truck that tried it a artic with smaller trailer. Im sure Ive seen a picture of the trailer havng to be airlifted out under a chinook. The guy that did our first 7 hours cpc sleeping showed us it I remember now.

I used to live a couple of hours away in Yorkshire, so its been a favourite place to visit for walking or with guests from abroad the route from Ambleside over the top and down to Eskdale is always a winner in wow. Many years ago having walked over Hardnott Pass many times, I took a young lady to see the wonders of the Lakes. I thought a nice quite evening in Ambleside, all romantic and that, nice meal. That didn’t happen as there was a car rally passing through…
I thought we would do the route, first time for me not on foot, although my personal transport was a long wheelbase Fiat Ducato without power steering and it was January. We got halfway up and the hairpins were defeating me, so reverse, forwards, reverse, but mostly losing grip and sliding a bit. The loverly lady lost her bottle and got out and walked up in heels, she beat me to the top. The sun was out the other side and the decent was less tricky.
Been across the pass many times in a car now, I wouldn’t get enjoyment out of doing it in a van again.
