Anyone drive a MAN Tipmatic auto in fleet spec? Bag of [zb]

Wow that’s knackered! Look at the state of it :open_mouth: . There was no bumper rust of mine, it was blue like the rest of the truck and the wheels were still silver as well. That one pictured looks like it’s had no love whatsoever since leaving the fleet. :frowning:

The reason that their customers asked for this more basic option is that some drivers did not like the way the autos hung onto gears and intervened to keep the revs up, and therefore the trucks did not return the fuel results promised. So this very useful manual over-ride feature was removed on fleet spec vehicles.

I think this is total rubbish pedalled by manufacturer’s who have a truck that can not deliver what was promised,to add insult to injury they conjour up these god awfull gearbox program’s which if the truth be known further frustrate the driver thus increasing wear and tear and fuel economy. I spent a time yesterday looking at some of the clip’s “MAN truck and bus” has posted on youtube and they are shocking in the sense that the company feel’s adding beige trim to there dashboard is a step forward in truck driver appeal :open_mouth: . Why don’t they try and build a truck that does’nt fall apart and give some of the most serious engine trouble known off instead of ■■■■■■■ about with these stupid tweak’s. The dog’s in the street know they have been a ■■■■ truck sine 2001,the only people who buy them are corporate goon’s looking at the bottom line,if they looked further down the line they’d run a mile.
I feel the need to have a particular go at MAN as im told i could be driving one next time round, with enough bad publicity maybe they’ll get the finger out and build something half decent for me :grimacing:

Well well well seem to recall I got a right slating on here about quitting a job cos of a Mean And Nasty, they’re unfit for purpose in my eyes and should all be melted down and turned into skips and wheels. How they get away with selling these things beggars belief, can’t think of a good word to say about them.

Do you have a link to your post?

Sorry Rob dont know how to do the link thing but it was from jul 20th entitled ‘Quitting a job cos of bad truck’. Still stand by what I said in respect of these contraptions, just made me hate going to work and thats not how it should be.

My post was not entirely invalid as mentioned things other than the gearbox as you also did. I did assume the cabs are the same, more or less. All in all I like the MAN’s a lot.
Sorry it’s taken so long to reply but I’ve been very busy. Unusual for me these days.

The woes of a [zb] autobox

I really like it when you are attempting to get under a fully weighted- loaded trailer and the ■■■■ things stop dead. more revs , still not moving ,more revs still not moving, little bit more and pow off it goes - slams into the pin everything in the cab goes flying through the air and you sit there dazed and confused with rattling teeth

Gotta love MAN autos .

Yeah, I lost half my brew this morning off the cup holder on the dash, so then put the cup in the holder in the door, got out to wind legs up etc and when I got back in the cab the rest of my coffee was all over the inside of the door !!!
And while I’m at it, the blind spot on the passenger side caused by the ‘A’ Post and Mirror is massive and its ■■■ on fuel and when I adjusted the roof spoiler to its highest position it was still well below the height of a UK spec 4.2 mtr trailer ■■ Oh, one more thing, if the low sun is blinding you from the passenger side of the windscreen you have to take your seatbelt off and stand up to reach the visor !!!

Well todays exploits in the MAN involved opening the curtains only for them to go all the way round the curtain rail, not stopping and then sliding off the end on to the bed !!
The drivers window has the ‘anti-trap’ so will not close if your head or such thing is sticking out. Today, everytime I pressed the button to send the window up it went up, stopped a couple of inches from the top of the door and then came all the way back down again !!
Can’t wait to see what’s not working correctly tomorrow ?
