Any concrete mixer drivers ( owner drivers) on here?

dependaman:
Thanks for the info regarding the Chester plants and Capenhurst. Whats the volume in Capenhurst.

Its an interesting world we are now in!

I wonder how many static plants LAFTAR will open or re open this year or if there is a limit on this number, can they get round it by putting site plants up. The JV must a good number of site plants for erection!.

Are you on a mixer? If so, who for?

Not sure on how much going into capenhurst but its a two year job and kier are doing it. Personally I don’t think this site plant will work in nuclear fuel. If this site plant breaks down, the nearest plant JV have is in Liverpool which must be 25 + miles away

The is nothing to stop the JV or Hope opening plants anywhere (providing they get planning).

As Dave the Renegade says it’s a smoke & mirrors job! but I have been told that Hope & Tarmac/Lafarge are looking to recruit O/D’S & contract hauliers do these people never give up?!!

Dont know why they would want to recruit new drivers. They havnt got enough work for their current drivers

Exactly my thinking mate, I belive that it was reported in the trade press very recently that they were looking to recruit, I think management of these firms end up beliving their own lies :open_mouth:

im a mixer driver in cemex bridgend working for an owner driver

amazing how much work we are doing in shropshire after the merger, everybody trying to get concrete off us but we cant supply everybody, cemex and hope about 10 quid a metre more expensive than us and no jv in the area .looks like being a very busy year

I’ve heard the hope trucks are being repainted with an emulsion brush and a roller.

Any hope drivers confirm ?

Hi Drewster, How do you find the fuel consumption with your M A N ?, looking to get a new mixer before euro 6 comes in, and heard the M A N is a bit juicy??

So a Hope and Tarmac/Lafarge now two seperate companies, or the same one with two paint jobs?

What is the MPG on the MAN ■■..
My Renault Lander is giving 6.4mpg average over 12 months… My old 6 metre 330 Merc was 5.7mpg and Volvo 290 5.3mpg…The 8 wheeler Renault has a 430 engine.

Mixer now in full hope livery,

fair play it looks tidy mate,6.3 mpg aint bad for a mixer either,no wonder people seem to be turning to renault at the moment.

I had a 08 daf 410 8 wheeler mixer with a 9mtr bottle. I used to get nearly 7mpg. best mixer on diesel iv had. Previously I had a hino 360 8 wheeler, that was a good wagon. A bit thirstier, 6 - 6.5 mpg.

hope selling one of there plants in telford and one somewhere else in the west region ive found out today, also talk of them mothballing a couple somewhere, seems a strange move if true?

I’m pretty sure they can’t sell any plants until 7/1/14 under the sales agreement when they bought the Tarmac/lafarge plants.
