They expanded some wile ago, but when i saw who they where subbing for i thought they knew something i didnt lol, It looks like i was right all the way along though, Never have liked that fridge work for more than one reason ■■ And its not that they keep me awake all night lol
They were doing a lot of subcontracting work for DHL/Gregory on the Mondelez work at Bicester and also doing Sainsbury’s work from Northampton. It’s a shame they’ve gone into administration as they did seem to be expanding. Hope all the drivers won’t be out of work for too long.
Maybe more are going under now because in recent times the likes of Turners, Culina, WS, Kinaxia, EV Cargo would be snapping up these business’s as an easy way to expand. Who wants to expand in times like these, when taking care of your own and surviving seems difficult enough in itself
Id imagine that only Turners & Culina sleep well atm, and another two of these mentioned are experiencing problems from what Ive either seen or read, with one of them getting fuel cards rejected on a daily basis [not a good look when you are holding up the queue] & the other being sued by an investor
Customers want it done cheaper all the time, they don’t care, if they fold they just find another, more than one transport company per day has closed in the last twelve months.

From what i see some hauliers go round offering the Customers a cheeper rate for some reason,
Not many out there today know their fixed cost from what i can see, Why should you need to fund a Company thats been going many years lol Should it not be Self Funding ? or Am I Missing the point of operating vehicles,
Not sure how i Lasted 50+ years ? Maybe i did it Wrong then ■■ What i will say it was My Rate or No Rate, And if a Customer said he could get it done cheeper, The Answer was hope they can start tomorrow then lol, It looks to me there would be a Shortage of trucks if they where all Paid For ■■?
Funny old business is haulage and even funnier are the rates charged.
Our transport operation was wound up and finished yesterday. The haulage company that will be doing our old work from January on offered an existing customer the price of £40 per pallet to deliver their goods. We were charging £15 per pallet. The customer have now transferred their 5000+ plus pallets and distribution to Lineage who are charging £16 per pallet.
The company charging £40 also pay their drivers £4 an hour less than we were paid!
Incidentally it was a political and not financial reason to cease operations at our depot.

I know nothing about pallet work or rates but surely £15 a pallet is a stupidly low rate?
Not sure mate tbh. 26x £15 to go 100 miles may be profitable, to go 600 miles maybe not. I’m only the pilot, I don’t worry about stuff above my pay grade.
You’ve also got to remember the £5 to unload the pallet into the coldstore, the £5 per day storage and also the £5 to take it from the coldstore and load it onto the trailer.
Those kinda figures enable the transport operation to run at a cheaper price.

Ah yep ok, I’ve heard that before with the likes of DHL just covering costs on haulage and making the money on warehousing

Did Stobarts not try that a few years ago ■■ That worked out well from what i can remember,
Only own account can operate at cost, But i do see Stobarts can Still operate cheaper than
Morrisons could, Maybe they still have the same Stars operating the show ? why would Culina still
employ the same idiots i wonder ■■ See they have taken William on say no more , And most of the
vehicles are Still Wrecked, Something you never saw when Eddie was about.
