But once again for a bridge to be marked 13’ then minimum it can measure is 13’3" which is 4.0386m thank you please
Let’s get this right you want to make up your own rules by ignoring the marked height on bridges and using a margin which may or may not exist,or may exist to a greater or lesser amount, because of numerous variables.Good luck with that.
While the law states that you have to go by the ‘marked’ height indicated in the cab and on the bridge, obviously in imperial not metric.Any deviation from that regarding international operations being a stupid loophole in the law which needs to be sorted.
UK law requires it to be in feet/inches or both on UK trucks but this truck in question is from Flip Flop land where metric is king so his height indicator would be just in metric.
It seems obvious that if a UK driver is expected/needs to know the height in imperial on UK operations running here then any driver needs to know same whether it’s a UK driver doing international or a foreign driver doing international. The common link in all cases is ‘running here’.In just the same way that a UK driver is expected/needs to know the height in metric when running on the continent. On that note it doesn’t matter if the thing is fitted with a metric height indicator or an imperial height indicator or both or even if foreign wagons don’t have any height indicator in the cab.The premise that a driver is expected/needs to know the height of the vehicle according to locally applying measurement standards applies or at least ‘should’ apply.
In our case that’s obviously imperial not metric. If that wasn’t the case then it obviously wouldn’t be illegal to not have an imperial in cab height indicator on UK operations. As opposed to a metric one.

When you say “driving it here” ■■? Do you mean in the UK ■■?
Just asking as it’s a UK trailer based in the UK to be used on UK road network, with… guess what
The height in metres !!!
Oh my God , how dare they
If it’s pulled by a UK reg unit domestically the in cab indicator has to be imperial.
If it’s a UK reg unit or even a foreign unit on international it’s anyone’s guess.Which is the issue.IE there is ( should be ) no excuse for hitting a UK bridge that’s marked accurately in feet and inches with a uk truck on domestic work or international work or a foreign truck on international work.In just the same way that there’s no excuse for any truck uk or foreign hitting an accurately marked foreign bridge.
is the point your blinkered pedantic vision seems to keep missing missing not the fact that the main height was displayed incorrectly at 4.1.■■..its irrelevant as to what it says in imperial as its the secondary display and irrelevant to anyone looking at it either from the 21st century or your average flipflop…however…whilst once again awaiting on the flogged senseless last word reply…heres the picture they just released of the flipflop driver when questioned about the incident…

If imperial is supposedly irrelevant here then they obviously ain’t going to make it illegal to not have a height indicator in imperial but it’s fine to chuck the metric one where it belongs in the skip.Unless you’re running on the continent where they like their bridges measured in the equivalent of bleedin yards because the equivalent of yards is all they’ve got.On that note absolutely the photo says everything.
is that you now that has the last word reply,or is it me?..ive read his last post 3 times there to make sure i understand what the waffle is about…and im still not 100%

The only thing I can guarantee my friend is that neither one of us will have the last word.

How confusing is this
Quote, unquote, you have to put in place a “in-cab” height warning showing “ft and inches” if the vehicle is over “3 metres”
I’m just being picky , sorry

But if it’s from overseas, why is it written in English ?

Pretty sure the number 4 is the same in English and Flipflop’ski.

MOT PLATE - doesn’t look very Flip to me, neither does the recognised abbreviation for overall height.
Old trailer, got wheels on the landing legs
Just sayin’ - and putting my shoulder to the wheel to get this thread to the 15 mark

Lets hope the old ■■■■ gets prosecuted for doing that, some people really have nothing better to do with their lives…pretty [zb] sad really…
You did note that that the signs themselves are illegal since 1994 and as such it’s not illegal to remove them since they were ordered to be shown in imperial and yes I’d be happy to help him get rid of the zb things. What’s sad is a bunch of ignorant Europhile metric nazis trying to impose their will on a sovereign country that often chooses ( rightly ) to use a different standard of measurement.

Strangely enough the Europhile metric nazis don’t seem to have moaned about us or even continental road signs not using the European 1 and then needing to cross the 7 to differentiate them.
