can work in your favor .In top end jobs like that which are practically dead mans shoes. Yes it can & the rewards are sweet, after all a train driver is harder to replace than an HGV driver…
Probably sat at home knocking one out like my mate does, who worked there. He paid his mortgage off quick time, brought a 2nd house in London, rents it out, sold his house in London and lives in Lincolnshire, loads of free time a decent income from his house he rents out, mortgage free, nice car, motorbike, 2-3 foreign holidays a year. Fat redundancy cheque in the bank, final salary pension.
