Their yard in Grimsby on Estate Rd 2 is run by Quayside Distribution now. I’ve done some agency work out of there recently and it’s sad to see the old garages derilict and the drivers rest room used to store junk. That rest room was where I would sit quietly and listen to my dad and the likes of Albert Goodard,Dennis Newcombe, Bob Flatman, billy Abel, and many others tell their stories. Does anybody remember Mo Stringfellow? He died in a smash in the early 80’s. He was a good bloke, think a tipper stopped in front of him on the M62 roadworks and he ran up the back of it in a day cab ERF B series, killed him outright if I remember right… I was only a kid so I may have it a bit wrong.
Was talking to Dennis Newcomb in august last time Isaw him was about 25 years ago
A couple of Anglo Danish I have taken from a magazine article from a number of years ago. I wonder how many faces can be recognised.
Turned it, hope its ok.
Regards John.

That must have been an absolute pig to reverse - particularly without power steering!

Is that Leyland equipped with a hydraulic sliding 5th wheel or what? I’m familiar with the regular sliders but I’ll admit I’ve never come across one of those, if indeed that’s what it is.
Got a forklift on it ? Think they had a few of them at Grimsby
Hey there Larry, I have just come across these conversations after finding an old book with trucknetuk.com including an email address and a password so decided to see if you are still on this site. I ask this as your last posting was Dec 2011 so a few years have slipped by since then.
Peter
Sorry there Larry I meant Apr 2012 not 2011.
Peter
Hey there Allan, sorry for my lack of conversation but a lot of stuff seemed to go missing in our move and I have just come across these conversations after finding my old book with trucknetuk.com including an email address and a password so decided to see if you are still on this site. I ask this as your last posting was Apr 2013 so a few years have slipped by since then.
Peter
Hey Keith fgb, are you still on this chat as I do believe my dad and I knew you from back in the 70’s
Cheers,
Peter
Hi,looking back through the previous posts I don’t think we were at Anglo Danish at the same time. I started work for them in January 1976. There is a Facebook site for Anglo Danish and Dennis Newcombe is a regular contributor, you will remember him.
Hello Keith, I just got a reply to my email from Trucknet so logged in here to answer you. My dad was working from 1970 to 1975 at Anglo, I joined in 72 until 75 when we both left and the family then moved to Canada where we still live. I do remember Dennis and believe he is in one of the photos he supplied on Trucknets Anglo page? Anyway, good of you to reply and I will see if I can connect with Dennis although at the moment I am not on Facebook. Cheers for now and keep in touch if you like? Peter.
