American trailers in uk

Carryfast:
This time I think even newmercman would agree that there’s a method to my madness.

You shouldn’t ‘think’ Crazyfast, that’s when the problems start

I reckon your current idea is as bad as all the rest of your plans for ■■■■■■■■■■ of the transport industry, you’ve now given up on the Poles and are redy to take on the Americans :open_mouth: but just for argument’s sake, what exactly are you going to carry on your TransAtlantic operation? Pretty much the only thing the UK exports to America are empty sea containers, they have ships that carry 6500 TEUs, I very much doubt they need you to help out, even in one of your wagon and drags with a 20’ on the prime mover and a 40’ on the drag :unamused:

Nurse Ratchett must’ve mellowed in her old age to allow you near a computer, mind you, even though you’re as silly as a box of frogs, I find you entertaining

No you’re right Britain exports zb all to anyone anymore but I think there’s more going into the states from europe as a whole than comes back. But in view of the relatively small amounts then a low capacity good service TIR operation seems better than a shipload of empty containers but obviously ACL don’t agree or they’d be using a proper ro ro only ship instead of one that carries more empty containers than full trailers. :unamused:   Unless you’ve got those figures wrong and there’s a lot more trade going both ways than you think. In which case one more truckload, but this time doing an operation in which we get the lion’s share of the job not the yank traction operations, won’t make much difference and sounds good to me.

Seen about 5 years ago on the M56 heading for Airbus Broughton.

Bring it on Carryfast… I hope your idea works. Thinking about it we have the trucks to do it. We could load here then ship out to England bringing both fuel tanks full with 1000ltrs of cheap diesel so we wouldnt need to buy any expensive UK fuel, we wouldn’t have to pay any road tax to the UK for use of your roads. We could pass everyone because we don’t have your stupid speed limiters and the speed cameras wouldn’t recognise our license plates. It all sounds marvelous except that the Irish have already been doing it for years Ha ha!

I’m part Irish anyway and I told newmercman that there’s a method to my madness but I just did’nt bet on anyone over there wanting to run over here if they don’t have to :open_mouth:  but it’s good to see that you got the general idea.  But the shipping side of the job sunk the idea before it could get off the ground. :frowning: But if they ever did reduce that ro ro rate to allow an artic outfit to be shipped for the same price as a container. :bulb: :open_mouth:  But you’re right the Irish were doing something like that for years, but not totally legally on the speed and tacho issues, unlike this job would have been done with log books, and just think how much of that cheap yank diesel that I could have saved by running a truck capable of 80 mph + at just 60 mph to keep the UK law happy.
