Agency driving - can it work out?

I knew a ‘feeder’ guy for UPS doing feeder work I think it was called.
He basically went to Rexel Senate in Dagenham twice a day. Then to a fishing supplies place in Burnham on Crouch.
Never did any loading or unloading although he was like 70.

I might be completely wrong about that though.
Seemed like he was on a good number though.

Feeder is generally night work hub runs.
I’ve seen some other references on here that Feeders aren’t generally expected to be involved in loading unloading.
Either something changed after I went or they don’t know what they are talking about. It came about from a Union agreement.
That sounds like a day bulk collections job not night Feeder work to/from a hub.The latter is where it all goes pear shaped unless the driver is happy to break his back.
I could probably find the disciplinary letters I’ve still got for refusing to handball loads at the hub etc if anyone doesn’t believe it.This should be enough to dispell any ongoing myths in that regard.
Some ‘concession’.‘Own vehicle’ which means/t tipping and then loading a bleedin 45ft artic trailer load all handball floor to ceiling every shift ‘assist’ bs. :imp: :imp:

Hols , hols , the best bit about agency , you can have them when you like , none of the we’ve got too many drivers off already , no hols from 1st dec - 1 week in jan etc etc ,
Other than that which is my main priority in a job these days I’m struggling to see what is offered that you couldn’t get as a employed driver

Union shafted you there lad, an reducing the time by half hour before overtime kicked in in return for you handballing loads on and off your trailer!! How many warehouse staff would they have let go in return for that measley little pay change? House always wins

Ye it was a day collection guy.
Are UPS the only guys that use the term feeder lol? It seems like such a stupid term. No doubt the same guy who came up with that came up with KPI’s. I hate magenment speak and unique terms lol. “Lets acronym a load of stuff to justify our existence.”

When I was working at nightfreight the people who went to the hub were called trunk drivers. When I worked at Tuffnells the people who went to the hub were called trunk drivers. WTF is a feeder?
And at Tuffnells and Nightfreight which both did similar work to UPS neither required drivers to unload.

Can agency driving “work out”

Yes
