Adelaide Insurance. (again)

hmm never knew about this. any of the younger lads with these? just bought a focus ST running 300bhp and currently paying £800

be interesting to see how Adelaide compare.

Got my quote through from Adelaide on the reasonably priced car - was £50 quid down on last year- but found a cheaper quote via Go-Compare and they beat that by another £15 = and that’s including adding business miles - more than happy with fully comp on a two year old car for two drivers for less than £200(OH… and we both got 3rd party on any other car not owned or hired by us)

well I’m 25 with 3 points for an SP30 and they pretty much halved what my renewal was with my last provider. Though I am only driving a 1.4TDCi fiesta (£30 a year road tax and 55mpg around town is the only reason lol) but they gave me everything unlike the one’s on comparison sites who want to charge for legal cover, personal accident cover, key cover, drive any car on 3rd party and unlimited Eu greencard

I’m going to give them a call tomorrow, just bought another car for my partner, looking to insure it and have her as named driver so she can practice (she only got provisional at moment). If they can beat the cheapest quote I’ve had, £336 then I’ll go with them.
Will be telling my current broker to go and do one come renewal on my car in September,

Legend Harry thanks for this, saved me £50.

Thanks

This is the 3rd year running I’ve been with them. This years policy renewed on 31st May, and as of today, my car is still showing as uninsured on the MID. I phoned them on Wednesday to ask why this was the case, and was told it is quite normal after the policy has been renewed and that I am definitely insured. I have printed my documents off and am having to carry them with me when I’m driving my car, just in case I get stopped by the police.

Has anyone else had this problem or is this maybe a one off issue?

If its not showing as insured tomorrow, I’m seriously considering cancelling my policy and going elsewhere. As much as I know I’m insured, I don’t like having the possibility of being stopped by the fuzz looming every time I use my car.

Stay away from hastings, had to change something mid policy, and overall got charged £100 for a change lmao.

Nope, my insurance shows up the same day, my renewal is also when my road tax is due, so if it wasn’t on the database I wouldn’t be able to tax the car.

i’ve been with Adelaide for 3 years now.
I got burgled last year & they took my car,1.4hdi 206 on a 03 plate,as well as other things,i paid £1100 for it & got paid out £1500 for it
anyway, when my renewal came through it had gone up £180 :open_mouth:
I did the usual comparison sites & got it down to £240 fc with all the extras like legal cover, protected NCD etc.few days before it was due for renewal Adelaide rang me,i told them I had a cheaper quote by a fair bit.they went off & had another look at my policy & came back & beat it by £20,not a lot,but it saved me the hassle of shelling out £90 to start with another firm & I got all the extras included as well.
my motorbike insurance is due so will give them a try on that.
as has been said though, beware of policy changes midway, they charge far to much for change of address or change of vehicle.

Just renewed with them
No hassel at all.
Quote they gave was cheapest I found.
And premium less… by 50p!!! Lol

what does the insurance ombudsman do, ■■?
is it not about time they looked at the charges these companies impose for changing information on our policies ■■?/… after all, it takes about 5 minutes on a computer, how can they justify £35 or more ■■?

My insurance with them was £195 last year, renewal this year £265. Checked on Internet and found Hastings insurance for £190. Same car and all the same details as last year?

phone them up and they’ll beat Hastings quote

They tried that crap with me last year at renewal time until I phoned up and had a go at them.
They soon saw sense and got it down.

When I renewed mine last year they wanted double what I actually paid elsewhere.

Believe it or not i worked for Adelaide for around 4yrs a while back now, and they are a decent compny, always ring for a better quote when ur renewal arrives…

Check internet for feedback, check how much admin charge they’ll fleece you for should you dare to change cars or move house.

Hastings or Adelaide??

I’ve changed addresses and changed cars in mid policy and Adelaide have been decent and waived any charges I might have had, can’t knock them over the 3 years I’ve been with them

agree they done this for me too, got my wife’s car on with as well

I’ve just changed car today so thought I’d give them a call (now called Cornmarket insurance)
He said they will beat any quote I can show him. As I didn’t have any at the time the quote was £650. I went on money supermarket and got quotes for £330 so phoned them back. I gave him my login details to money supermarket so he could see for himself and they came back with £307 but also included protected NCD and legal.
Got to admit it is a pretty huge saving, even based on what my current insurer wanted to charge me for the new car.

My previous insurance company sent me a renewal for over 1500 bucks for my ST (direct line)
Adelaide quoted me 500 bucks saving me over a grand a year.

I’ve been with them 2 years now, beat any other quote even when renewing it which is when most companies bump the premium up. I’ve just changed cars, document says the change fee is £16.50 but they didn’t charge me anything. I also had the whole thing done in about 5 minutes while I was in my friends car going to collect my new car. Rang the number, selected the appropriate option, and somebody answered straight away, gave them the details and had the email with the new certificate by the time I arrived to pick the car up.

PS I think they’re now called Cornhill Insurance.

I am paying £500 for me and 't wife on a group 1 car :imp: They matched the price with a company that wanted to fit a telematics device and let me drive other cars not belonging to me, so that’s kind of a result.

That is the downside to fleet policies with no NCD I guess.
