From what limited knowledge I have of a similar system where there were a limited number of vehicles fitted with driver-facing cameras, apparently in that case the footage was reviewed firstly by an office in the US and only clips of interest were then passed on.
If the modern systems are now detecting things like taking a sip of water or something like that and the company is sacking for gross misconduct, I can’t see the company having any drivers left after a while of that.
i do know of a tm that got the sack for sending in videos of the crashes the drivers had. he wasn’t smart enough to hid any distinguishing features though
Probably a bored manager sent it in… I can’t imagine the driver sending in a video of himself being an idiot, and acting illegally…
Surprised he doesn’t sue the management for some “data protection” violation though…
Not the case when I was working at Brakes five years back…
Managers could be seen leering at hard-drive recorded footage during their dull moments… Makes an alternative to playing solitaire on one’s desktop I guess…
Many a driver got the sack for things like “Using their phone” even whilst driving around the yard…
One guy got sacked for nicking the entire satnav set, despite the fact he knew he was being recorded on the cab cam!
