Any problems post back

Problems!!, you’ve got to be joking, it’s worse than trying to speak all the languages we had to get through all those years ago, at least some of them could speak a little English, but understanding the language for this thing is more than my 1940 vintage brain can stand, too many abbreviations instead of words we can understand, I have lots photo’s on photo-bucket, but cant even get them to understand how do I get them onto A1 on Truck net UK, driving my old Guy Invincible and hand-balling a load of Ozzy singles, was far stressful, all we did then was sweat :imp: all I want to do with this is tear what’s left of my hair out, so come on guys, let’s have some real words we can understand, instead URL, phpbb and all that,  :-Jack

Hi Jack, if you have “A1” page open then open photo-bucket (make sure you sign in on both) then select the photo thats left click on it and it comes up on it’s own to the left there is a box which says share this picture in the top there is a “img” code place cursor on it and left click holding down as you go across it it should change colour and a yellow copied flash up go to “A1” page and on your reply right click and you should have a box open look for paste and click paste and it should put the photo-bucket writing in you can look at preview and it should have your picture on. then go back to photo bucket and go back to album to select another photo and repeat the process. I don’t know if this is correct way but it does work for me another silly old sod  hope this is of some use to you
cheers Johnnie

they have changed photobucket you have to copy and paste it on to your reply now

Hi guy’s, I’ve just been to see JMR in the retirement home, didn’t know he was just down the road from me, and guess what, he was 94 a couple of days ago, he didn’t remember me at first, but when we started talking it all came back to him slowly, he’s very slow and has to think very hard when you talk to him, but at 94 you cant expect anything else can you, Russel Hutchinson went to see yesterday so it’s nice to know they still keep in contact, it was only a short visit, but it made me feel good to know he’s still here   .I just thought you all would like to know.

bloody good news mate hes still going

Yes he’s still alive and kicking, but he is looking his age but at 94 you have the right to look old, he was sat in a high backed chair but never got up, so I didn’t stay too long because he looked tired, he said he goes out to the restaurant now and again, and gets out sometimes, it would have been nice if I’d had known his birthday then we could have sent a few cards, but he was pleasant enough and we shook hands, so I’m glad I went down to see him, even if it’s just to let everyone know.

Hi Stuart, it makes a change from speaking on the phone, I remember when you thought you’d got rid of the ERF, remember when I sent my Volvo to Germany so you could get home after it set on fire, it came back like an over cooked roast, but they fit you up with a new cab and a total rebuild, you were as sick as a parrot because you had to have it back, I cant remember how many there were, I thought about 6 in all, but they were so cold in winter, they were really no good for the job we were doing at the time, but sadly you had to have it back. :imp: :open_mouth: , Regards :-Jack. :grimacing:

Well that’s opened up a few memories, I thought there were 4, there was yourself, Bob Cowan, Donald Jackson, and tapper Jack Myers. I remember being with Donald when he woke up and his bedding was frozen to the back of the cab in Italy, when he got back he refused to go out in the ERF again until they did something about it, JMR got ERFs down to the yard and made them do something about it, and eventually they put night heaters in free of charge, they were the first vehicles to have night heaters at A one. I also remember getting ■■■■■■ in Cluses, the bar was shut but we went into town found a bar that was open, had a few then bought a few bottles including some liquor in a sacking coated bottle, that was the one that turned me onto a drunken slob when I slid off the seat and crumpled in a heap on the floor, I also remember waking up for ■■■■, and fell out of your top bunk trying to get out, that’s when I realised it wasn’t my cab but yours. By the way I was never a shop stuard anywhere, I was never a keen union man anyway, you must have mistaken for Terry Mortimer, he was shop stard at Chapmans when A one took over, . :-Jack

Your right about the memories Stuart, there were lots of good times, a few scary ones, and a couple of sad ones, one of my saddest trips was when Arthur Knot went with me, he was going to Yugoslavia and I went to the top side of Venice, he left me after we parked up below Paris, he said he wanted to do another couple of hours, but he went straight through, I know this because someone told me they’d seen him going up from Milan the following day, after I’d tipped I went up to near the border to load for Mamas And Papas, but in the factory John phoned me and said sit down, he then told me Arthur was found dead up at Trieste on the hotel car park, he’d been killed by the fumes from his Fridge, although they didn’t really know at that time, but I did, because he’d taken the vent off the outlet he had to let the fumes out, and he died with double pneumonia, it’s what happens with all bottled gas if you dont vent it.
So that was one of the worst trips for me, it was a bit of a shock knowing that if he’d have stopped with me, it might not have happened, but that’s life and we cant do anything about it.
But we really did have some good weekends, and eventually all the memories will start to come back, like the week ends in the Hotel Wien in Budapest, but that’s another story.  :frowning: :astonished: :open_mouth: Goodnight.

Hi Stuart, I hope your better at putting pictures on than I am, because I’m crap and need to learn a lot more about the computer language.:-Jack  :imp: :smiling_imp:

Come on Jack, it ain’t hard! Even you can do it! Stop being such a cop-out! :stuck_out_tongue:

  1. Open your photobucket account
  2. Find pic you want
  3. There’s 3 options above the photo - EDIT SHARE DELETE
  4. Click on SHARE and a separate window opens up
  5. Click on the GET LINK CODE tab
  6. When that loads, look at the one that says IMG FOR BULLETIN BOARDS AND FORUMS
  7. Go to the FULL SIZE option and click on the greeny coloured writing that starts [IMG. The writing will become highlighted
  8. Click the RIGHT button on your mouse (not the LEFT button) and a small menu will appear
  9. Click on COPY

That’s photobucket part done.

  1. Come to this thread and click on NEW REPLY like you would do to post a new message
  2. Place the cursor in the typing area by clicking your LEFT mouse button just like you would when you’re about to start writing a new message
  3. Now click the RIGHT button on your mouse and the small menu will appear again
  4. This time, click PASTE and assuming your placed your cursor in the typing area then the [IMG link you copied from photobucket will now appear here
  5. Leave a line under the pasted link and type some text to explain what’s going on in the pic
  6. Click SUBMIT to send your message and pic to the thread
  7. Job done

To add more pics, just repeat the process  .

NOTE: When you paste the link into your message, the picture WILL NOT SHOW so don’t think you’ve done anything wrong. Images (and smiley icons such as  ) only become “live” once you’ve sent your message. You don’t see the smiley icons or images in the typing area. :bulb:
