Hi Graham,
Sheepy Magna flour mill near Atherstone, used to collect the sharps from there in a Leyland Terrier , think the firm was called Lowes it was like a museum inside but has now been converted in to living accomodation, not sure if its flats or one big house, Cheer’s Pete

Hi Pete, yes it was Lowe’s and one of those small country mills that were once very common. After Milled From Golden Fields was published one of the Lowe’s family contacted me, he was then living in London.

Seddon FRC 805C. Rescued derelict by me from Rush Green Motors in February 1986, restored over a 2 year period. I kept it until 1999, then it passed to Colin Pitt, then Peter Drummond. It was then sold at a Malcolm Harrison auction in August 2015 and has since had a repaint. I was very pleased to see it at Harrogate this year some 30 years after restoring it. It is one of 50 made for BRS, Model designation 16/4/470, with AEC AVU470 engine, AEC / Thorneycroft D197 6-speed overdrive gearbox and Moss back axle.

Hello Gingerfold  With respect,I personally think that this lorry is:-

Thornycroft XB Normal Control,Covered Fixedside-Bodied,6x4 Lorry,OU 7011,Hampshire,1930.R.Simmonds & Sons Ltd,Millers,Aldershot.Gingerfold photograph :-

To cut a long story short, there were no less than 13 Thornycroft rigid six-wheeler lorry models in 1930 alone, and the list that I’ve seen doesn’t
specify driving control layout,i.e. normal control or forward control. The XB normal control model was subject to design changes in the 1927-1932
period, including engine changes and designation changes plus the addition of a model name:Amazon.

It could be another Thornycroft model, but the XB model is probably the most likely in the case of OU 7011

You’re not seriously telling me that you guy’s didn’t know ?!?

I saw it at Newark AEC rally a couple of years back, and just stood there with my mouth wide open, breaking a cold sweat remembering how nice and original it was when Graham had it. :open_mouth:
Here is a link to a pic that shows it (not my photo). It must have cost someone an absolute fortune…
