Rational Science - doesn’t stop people doing stupid things that lead directly to their own deaths…
“Faith” can make people perform wonders, and also step aside those things that would otherwise harm them.
Instead of Science thinking if it could do something, maybe it should stop a moment - and consider if it SHOULD do something.
I have a lot of faith in “Science” as this field compromises the same laws of the Universe - whether or not one believes that those “Laws” were put there BY God, or they just spontaneously appeared for no reason whatsover, other than “Random Chance”…
I have little faith in the type of scienTIST however - those who’ve compromised their profession (if atheist) or their souls (if spiritual) by taking money to find results that lead to a conclusional agenda the powers-that-be (a.k.a. Deep State) will back all the way.
The Space programme was brought to an abrupt halt following the Challenger disaster in 1986.
It is now TWO generations later - and we’ve yet to:-
(1) Build an orbital space station that ordinary people can live and work on
(2) Build a moonbase that ordinary people can live and work on
(3) Have a joint-space programme under international treaty, instead of “impossible-to-enforce” so-called “International Law”.
IF we find out in the near future that say, an Asteroid is going to wipe out this planet - then as it stands, we’ve got no way of evacuating this planet.
Science - wastes it’s time on the Hubris of thinking that they can solve all this planet’s problems, whilst not even being able to preserve this planet’s entire existance - at threat from without rather than from Humanity living upon it presently.
There doesn’t seem to be much research going into “living undergound for a year” - which might be necessary, should a star as close as say, Arcturus “supernova” within the next century or so…
To conduct science research - a plentiful supply of cheap electricity is essential!
The Green Cause - by taking electricity to an all time high price, globally - puts it’s own salvation out-of-reach.
Who’s going to conduct electricity-hungry R&D programmes as it stands?
To the victor - the spoils.
The future belongs to Government-disconnected corporations around the world.
If that cooporation doesn’t rely on “government contracts” to stay afloat, then more power to them!
Apple Inc? - Nope. They’ve lied to the public too much already, and are compromised BY big government.
Tesla Inc? - I’ve already posted at length about Tesla being about BATTERY DEVELOPMENT rather than “That Car”…
Necessity is the mother of invention:
If it were not for Elecriticity being the high price it is, there might not be the sheer effort being put into developing a revolutionary type of battery - coming soon, I have no doubt.
Notice too, that it isn’t “Christians” who believe in this “Electric Jesus” concept.
I suspect that the first “World President” - will be someone endorsed by “Electric Jesus” however.
Forget the established “Church” in all this:
There’s an awful lot of things the world’s clergy SHOULD be doing - but play no part in.
There’s also a lot of “Tolerance” from organized religion, including for things like Devil Worship, demonology, and other petty evil - that I’m not surprised even the Atheist crowd - steer well clear of!. 
I like you, you’re funny. Considering all gods are ficitional, if forced to choose one, I’d choose one that was a bit cooler than beardy-man-on-a-cloud-who-advocates-child-sacrifice-and-subjugating-women-to-second-class-citizens. I’d probably pick Thoth, I always thought he was pretty cool, with that big Ibis head, and being the God of writing and science and knowledge etc
