£300 back load

If the load out paid for the round trip then the back load is bonus
As long as you get paid for your working hours the load rates should not be your concern.
Do as your told in the best way you can, keep your Boss informed of any problems then what happens after that is his problem

I was recently told too pick up a empty fridge up,drag it 40 mile up the road ,drop it in yard and go and do some drops, when I came back I was told too pick up the same fridge up and drag it empty back too our yard.
When I queried the point in dragging a empty fridge 40 mile up the road empty too then drag it back 40 miles empty :exclamation:
I was told under no circumstances were we too be seen running bob-tail,must have a trailer on  :unamused:

Soldier z:
Drop your office phone numbers off will you lads.
Might have some wotrk coming up for you.
I am willing to go to 5 magic beans (but no more mind)

Haha ! There might be more profit in Magic Beans than a DHL Back Load Rate.

True, but the point I’m trying to get at is-Back Loads are just that ‘Back Loads’ not a whole days delay for their miserable rates.
Problem is, if every one wants their loads delivering at a back load rate where would we all be ?
Earning below minimum wage & expected to live in our cabs for weeks on end like the Flip Flops parked up all over the country waiting for low paying back loads.

DHL do pay demurrage, you just have to have the agreements in place prior to taking on a load, and know the right senior managers to escalate disputes with T/office staff to. However, Barronwood different kettle of fish, they may be getting demurrage and not passing it on.

Arnt barronwood one of those firms constantly advertising in the truck mags ?
I wonder why
That sort of backload is a complete waste of effot and time that rate is crazy if I took work on like Tht I’d be bust in a year people need to get if into the heads Tht running empty is not a loss and a big no no it’s somthing Tht can be more profitable in the end

Left hand down!:
Company I occasionally drive for haul a trailer over the Pennines every night to service a contract in Manchester with 3 drops of up to 3 pallets each (usually just 1 or 2 pallets for each drop) then have the driver haul ■■■ all the way from Stockport area up to Preston to load 27 tonne for Wakefield for the grand sum of £150, and the Preston load is never ready meaning that there’s a minimum of 2-3 hours driver overtime rate to come out of that.

It’s been pointed out to them many times that the Preston job isn’t making them any money at all and they’d be better binning it off and servicing the Manchester contract with the 7.5 tonner and a 7.5t driver rate. But they know best…

I mean lol?

I know of 1 company who were being paid £450 one night and £400 for the other 4 for one hit per night with a round trip of 288kms…hour turnaround in the middle and back…and that my friends, is gospel.

Earlier this year I tipped in Dumfries and our nerve centre instucted me to load trays at Belshill for Nuneaton! Now I knew that this load paid the grand sum of £150 so despite my telling them the fuel burned without taking into account my wages would be way over what they received for the job they insisted that I did it.

The worst part was with holds ups both whilst loading and whilst tipping I didn’t have time to pick up the “urgent” load that I’d been pencilled in for.

Later that week I got pulled into the office for allowing my vehicle to tick over for more than two minutes! My reply wouldn’t get past the auto censor! :imp:

u
£150 from Bellshill to Nuneaton? You sure you havent heard it wrong mate thats shocking!!

I know a certain supermarket chain are handing out backloads from stoke to the south west for 150 quid. Cheaper to run the truck empty back to base and do a couple of local loads

Nisa?
