Just thought I would add this it may just save some a hefty fine and points.
as 8 Wheels has already said most assume that a 7.5t truck has around 3 ton payload. Add a taillift to it and you can loose 1/2 of a ton easily hence why so many 7.5T trucks are pulled over for being overweight.
Best advice when starting a new job in a new truck is to go to a weighbridge like others have said. Make sure you get the weight with you in it also and allow for the weight of a m8 if you go double crewed.
Some typical details of a truck in this range are:
Dimensions:
External Length: 6226mm
Internal Length: 6096mm
External Width: 2440mm
Internal Width: 2400mm
External Height: 2611mm
Internal Height: 2375mm
Rear Aperture Height: 2180mm
Rear Aperture Width: 2210mm
Weights Box:
GVW: 7500kg
MAN Iveco Renault
Kerb Mass 4511kg 4460kg 4541kg
Payload 2989kg 3040kg 2959kg
Weights Box Taillift:
MAN Iveco Renault
Kerb Mass 4791kg 4740kg 4821kg
Payload 2709kg 2760kg 2679kg
These t/lifts are lightweight alloy and still weigh 300kg+
8wheels:
A 7.5t truck with a box body and taillift will probably weigh about 4-4.5t empty.
I think your a little on the light side. With a tail lift a newer 7.5t is more likely to be 4.5-5t empty (full tank of fuel and ad-blue and driver) giving a payload of 2-2.5t. The Euro 4 engine seems to be much heavier.
It is never safe to assume the payload of a vehicle, take it to the nearest weighbridge and get it weighed. If this is not possible/practical remember that you have no defence to an overloading charge - it’s an absolute offence (unless an open tipper or on way to or from weighbridge) - so always err on the side of caution.
We have 2 DAF LF 7.5 tonners curtain siders with tail lifts in our small fleet. One is an 07 Reg with an unladen weight of 4600kg according to Ryders sticker. The other is an 08 reg with the Ad Blue tank etc with an unladen weight of 4900kg.
We’ve not had a chance to get them on a weighbridge yet to check the actual weights .

kin hell a unlkaden weight of 4.9 ton! Its hardly worth running them may as well run a 12/15 tonner if possable wont cost a massive amount more and can carry a whole lot more weight and fit in most places a 7.5 can go.
First thing i did with my new 18t was take it on a weighbridge, with me and full derv tank and adblue, its at 8360KG empty i can therefore work out what the muppets in the office will load me with, and on 3 occasions so far have said errrrm no, and have had to move the load around twice for axle weight.
Bottom line , its my license thats on the line here , and i would not stand for the "its ok you will be fine "line that spouts for any TM lips
