Coops I’m with you 100% on the break whilst tipping or loading as long as I have no input into whatever they are doing. Any rest day is zero hours regardless of what day it falls upon. The first 21 days of annual leave count as 8 hours per day. Not sure about bank holidays not worked tbh, but I’m sure someone can enlighten me on that.
The tacho analysis software is where most Operators will get their info about WTD, manual additions to the software are often required. When it comes to adding info, assuming you’re off on a Bank Holiday, not at work, I would normally allocate as WTD-exempt time off. Each software type is different, but Tru Tac (which is my preferred software) allows you to label time off as either Holiday or Vacation, one counts for WTD, one does not. Bank Holidays are usually separate to statutory holidays.
whats the difference between vacation and holiday then assuming the software isnt american
I can’t explain the terminology, I guess someone decided that it was a convenient distinction
If you take a full fixed week off it is 48 hours, but if you take 5 days off over two fixed weeks it is 40 hours, so this is a method of keeping your average down. (Trying to keep on topic).
Of course if you have holiday entitlement over the statutory, these days can be set to zero, which helps.
In any case if you are an hours junkie, then time off usually helps to bring down your average a bit.
Glad I’m not in haulage, 4 day week and card in to out 40-46hrs max. And if I work a rest day overtime I get an easy 4 days to keep the hours down.
I’m with you on that I also do 4 days, finishing on a Saturday at various times, 45 to 50 hours or so, enough for anybody imo, unless they are up to their necks (usually self inflicted) living beyond their means.
I sometimes have moments of madness and volunteer for a full week, Mon to Sat, maybe if my Mrs is working a full week, or I fancy making a bit of extra cash to fund something or another.
As I said I have never used poa, I have got the odd infringement for wtd, but that is as far as it ever goes.
I just think it is there to paper over the cracks of an industry that expects too much of it’s workforce by exploiting drivers hours regs to the max, been there, done that,.t.shirt etc, and I just aint playing anymore,.■■■■ em.
