No wooden shoes (cloggies) but French fries now…picture made by myself in 1996
(again attempting some Renault-/-Mack-business) some 20 143H’s were in the fleet of
Van Steenbergen, since 1983 with Scania after several years of being loyal to ■■■■■■■■
Unfortunately, as a result of the 142M’s (roughly 40 vehicles purchased) the brief era
of Scania (strange enough no connection to Denonville) ended because delivery of the
‘first’ 124L’s (5 of the total order of 15) caused instant break-downs not solved though!
Some 143H’s were exported to Wales-based Richards and/or O’Neil in Ireland, before
MB got all pieces of the cake and Van Steenbergen concentrated on Belgium, Portugal,
Luxemburg and Czech Republic. Nowadays also in Turkey, Germany and Italy.
Even various experiments with 500 ■■■■■■■ DAF 95 did not end in genuine fleet-orders.
Herewith an overview (south-side of the yard) from 143’s out of Van Steenbergen’s brochure.
At the same time some 142’s and other Swedes (F10 / F(H)12 and Globetrotter 1/2) were
part of this fleet of now probably oldest transport-company of Belgium. Fleet was totally
standard with 3-axle Tautliners (LAG/Renders) and no longer the drop-tilts nor bulk-trailers.
In the season approx 10 container-trailers were active to and from the Antwerp-harbour-area.
Note: in corner on the left, you see the bumper of an FH-Volvo.
