you just don’t get it do you, quote the whole place is a toilet, provided no alternatives, why should they?

Enlighten us all then. I’m not sure what I’m not getting.

Thurrock, Grays, Tilbury and most of Essex are a complete dump, with or without litter strewn laybys. Can understand a council getting fed up cleaning up mess and the obvious danger of those laybys being so shallow and often with artics poking on to the road. Closing them isn’t the answer, making them deeper and longer and putting some bins in is. Getting rid of lorry parking doesn’t get rid of lorries and councils should IMO be providing parking.

A.

I don’t think that councils should have to be the provider, but they have the ability to facilitate parking being provided. All the development of the London gateway, and no one in the process of allowing the planing consent for it to go ahead thought about lorry parking, the same applies to the large industrial development gong on, its all waved through without any thought for where the transport required to make it work, is going to park over night, that’s where the councils should be getting involved, forcing the front end users of road transport(wharehouging ports industry) to foot the bill.

That puts it well, better than I did.

The councils have the ability to make sure adequate parking is provided but don’t, then complain when freight is forced to use unsuitable parking then close the limited amount there is.

+1 Nicely put,
Truck parking can’t be left to the free market, the land they need is more valuable as warehousing/industrial land.

Its disgusting that such a major port such as Felixstowe has limited facilities for drivers.
Ipswich the same with their go away nasty lorry don’t even think of parking here signs.

london gateway the same, as u go in sign says welcome lorry drivers, it should say welcome lorry drivers get your box and [zb] off , and by the way dont park round ear your [zb] off the locals

Its not just London Gateway, but Thurrock council too, I’ve noticed all the laybys on the A13 A128 and the link road to Tilbury have been closed, not that used them for night stops as I like to have most of my truck one piece in the morning, but its down to Thurrock council by all accounts :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

I would think Thurrock council got fed up with footing the bill to clear up the mess that got left in the laybys,so it’s down to us again really.

if you remember they put rubbish bins in,on the tilbury approuch but failed to empty em so the crap just built up , also as of the 20 th dec they made the manorway at gateway a clear way, so dont get caught out

Is that the road from the A13 to the roundabout at the start of the port road

Oh dear !, that’s going to screw up quite a few drivers then, the “lorry park” or better to be known as hireco’s yard is far to small. Would like to know when DP world are going to build a lorry park on the port, as was stated when they let the Lorry Park to Hireco

Thanks Mate, I got the feeling that they just went round in a circle, Eg, there is a problem with HGV parking in the Borough, lets commission a survey, discuss the result, then do exactly the opposite to what needs doing, and close the largest lorry park in the area, Titan Lorry park :unamused: :unamused: as I know its not a commercial lorry park now, its more a multi operator operating centre, and container storage yard(I know this ciz I get boxes out of there sometimes)
