On 23/04 my first Daf fried an ECU. this vehicle was built in Sept 2007 and is operated in South Australia, carting asphalt and associated quarry products, its a truck & trailer combination grossing 43.0 tonnes, it’s been such a reliable until it burned the ECU, which is what I call a catastrophic failure, luckily I was empty and stooging to the quarry. The usual truck dramas ensued, call out for Daf aid tow truck ect. A brand new 2014 ECU has been fitted and the truck now runs like a Swiss Watch, better than before. However I still don’t have a reason for it frying an ECU and every man and his dog is saying until you find out why it could do it again, which makes for sleepless nights. I’m sort of thinking we operate in extreme temperatures (42c+) and more dust than you could imagine. If anyone has any ideas or experience of similar would like to hear. Regards Phil
has the truck been jump started at all?
i drove a 2007 cf that fried the ecu, never been jump started in it’s life but our daf dealer did say that they had replaced a few ecu’s on 2006, 2007 and 2008 models which had gave up life for no apparent reason
merc gerbox ecu and scania engine ecu also can fail. no reason just poorly made.
