I can categorically tell you that very few companies in the central Scotland area will touch you at 18.
- I’ve learned the hard way.
Wait a couple of years is my god honest advice (There’s also hee haw work)
there are plenty of jobs in class 2 (all counts towards your experience if you want to drive class 1), especially if you have your hiab ticket. The jobs are not the best and mostly agency work but it’s enough to get some experience behind you. If you put in a solid 6 mths with an agency, you then have your 180 days in the last 12 mths putting you in the bracket of employable. I have done a hell of a lot of leg work in central scotland. I’m now on first name terms with most the TM’s in and around falkirk/stirling/g’mouth and I only passed my class 2 in Jan. Most of them are willing to drop you the odd shift but not commit to full time until you have a little more miles under your belt. The OP might consider that there is a sh*t load of C1 and C jobs in G’mouth alone, all agency work but it’s all about the important time behind the wheel. You need to have a game plan as the work is not going to come find you.
